Hi!!

I am moving into a place with a existing 4mbps line (2 people already using the line)
They told me that I need to just pay an isp for whatever bandwith I want per month and then have full use of the line.

After some price comparisons I found SAINET to be the cheapest isp provider, does anybody know anywhere that is better in terms of price?

Also I wanted to find out if shaped vs unshaped will impact online gaming at all? I don't download much but love my online games, does the 384 vs 512 vs 4mbps have an effect on my online gaming abilities/lag?

Thanks for the help!

Peace out~!:p

Maybe give us an idea of what Sainet is going to charge you per gig?

If you are going to game on an international server then yes unshaped is the best to go for, but you are going to pay a few bucks more for it.

4mb should solve most of you problems in terms of lag. :D

If the three of you are sharing one connection then rather just get uncapped for about R1400 and split the cost. It's better than getting say 10 gigs at R500 each.

Subscription Prices SAINET.

CAP PRICE
500 Megabytes R 39
1 Gig ADSL R 59
2 Gig ADSL R 118
3 Gig ADSL R 177
4 Gig ADSL R 236
5 Gig ADSL R 295
6 Gig ADSL R 354
10 Gig ADSL R 590
15 Gig ADSL R 885
20 Gig ADSL R 1 180
30 Gig ADSL R 1 770
50 Gig ADSL R 2 950

I think this is shaped and I am not sure of the line speed, they don't say although in another thread someone said it was 384kbps.

uncapped at R1500 is heavily shaped/slowed down during the day.
My advice is that if u have discovery medical aid (or know a friend that does), just get vitality broadband at R44 per gig. It is unshaped after hours, works all the time at 4mb speed. Btw, even if u use a friends discovery membership number, u can still debit your own bank account. In addition, it works without the vitality add on. Their web site is www.vitalitybroadband.co.za
If u can't go that route, I suggest Gconnect or the broadbandchooza above
