What is the best FREE windows news app out there? Or should I say, what is your fav? BTW it must be geared for heavy downloading - i.e. yenc, etc.

if you're just gonna download using NZBs, then I suggest "sabnzbd" :

http://sourceforge.net/projects/sabnzbd/

if you want to download by first browsing the groups (or just for reading groups), then I suggest "Agent". Although ... damn - sorry for you - I see that they've just recently decommisioned their "Free Agent" version and are now ONLY distributing the pay-for version. I'm sure googling for "forte free agent" will give you some results... luck

 stay away from OE .... please !

Thanks all... just another quick one... if I want to use IS' news server, can I still go the NZB route? Sorry for the NOOB questions!
btw - oe is good for POP3 period...! :D
How does firebird rate, or is it not really much good for binary?

Yip. Or you could try finding it on the news servers itself.

Takes some getting used to if you're moving from grabit but there's so much more you can do.

For eg. theres no article import, simply drag and drop the nzb into it then select all, ridht click, and download to folder

ADSL cutting off

Grabit works great but every time the ADSL cuts out (dont ask) I need to manually start the download process.

Cant I just change that somewhere???

Thanks
