What is the best open source crm package to do a ticket system for support, has a customer portal, can do quotes and track calendar and if possible a asset tracking module with serial. I have looked at Vtiger and tried using it, but it is not what I'm looking for. If I must buy software, then si be it, but what is the better/best crm to use. Microsoft --- hell no.

Looked at all the products. Some are close what i am looking for, yet no cigar.
Basically in a nut shell, looking for something to control the support issues and log/track, issue ticket numbers, give clients a web portal and or email intergration.
Must be able to do quotes and add products to quote on. I looked at Vtiger, however cannot have 1 item for products. Also Sugarcrm and Vtiger are slow.
A bonus would be to have a tracking of serial numbers of clients asset to check on SLA agreement.

Look at Commit CRM - is very nice, though not free (free trial). Designed specifically for IT companies. I do think it has a quote feature but it does plug into quickbooks for quoting and billing.

OTRS is a very good helpdesk (ITIL compliant).
Using ZuckerSync, you could sync the tickets in OTRS with SugerCRM. Not ideal though, I know, and ZuckerSync have not been updated since 2008.
