I am looking for the best deal from vodacom for someone looking for around 500mb/month and the speed is really not that important as it will be for browsing and emailing.

Anyone have an idea as to what would be the best package?

Thank you in advance :)

It costs R189 without a contract, thats it. The only other option is higher speed which costs more.

Go pre-paid if you can afford the upfront costs of the modem, otherwise if you prefer contract go with a top-up contract (just convert airtime to bundles) which allows you to manage your spend. If you want to share your connection look at the B970 router.

How much are the modems more or less and do you by any chance know the amount per mb I will be charged if I go prepaid route?

Nope any wireless as it is for a laptop to connect for browsing and email on trips. Nothing else, so the speed also does not have to be lightning.

Yes well with Vodacom the speed is like lightning by default aaalllrriggghhht...and thats that. :D :p

Terms and conditions apply. E&OE (best effort service and subject to coverage) hehe.

SAINET let you share the bundle (R20/m per extra SIM). GF and I now share a 250MB contract (Actually 300MB- see site for promotion).

That is a fair whack of data each, considering we use this only on our phones. If you're an MTN contract subscriber, you get provisioned on their APN, and can use your current SIM and number.\

VC users etc will need to get a new SIM- so if you're doing that anyway, consider this. There are deals with included modems. Speeds are average.

Going on a bit about this, I know. I just think it's the best deal out there currently, and seems a shame not to share the deal with others :o

So in a nutshell what is the total cost per month for how much bandwidth?

Any innitial costs?

if you take the MyMeg 500 then you just pay the amount stipulated in the deal above as we do not charge connection fee or sim fee on those. Should you go over your 500meg, then Vodacom will obviously charge you on a per meg basis.

Which is why pre-paid or top-up is the better choice. No surprise bills! :D

1X R150 sign up. Was hesitant myself at first, but there is enough positive feedback on other forums, so I went for it.

Hmm. 150 will be paid off in 3 months, then there is the cheaper OOB. Pros and cons to everything.

One thing I can say for SAINET is their support is pretty good. Small company, so you get through quickly and quick resolution of issues too. Guess this will change once more people join up.

Includes some roll over- 1 month, IIRC.

Ok so its R150 sign up. The your top up that you decide which one.

What about the modem? Charges freeone ?

Dunno about modems. I just use my 3G phone- fast enough on phone and via USB on the laptop.

Email their sales people- they can fill you in on any special offers.
