We replacing the phone systems in our office. Any suggestions on the comfiest and best headsets available? (cordless or wired). Plantronics seem popular and have quite a few models.

Best headsets by far are GN Netcom 2000 , they are pricey but durable and of excelent quality. Will set you back about R2200 a piece but its worthwhile. We give them to all our call centre agents since they have a way of destroying things and these last pretty well.

The headset jacks into a convertor which is either RJ9 (POTS) or USB (VOIP)

The headset has both the soft sponge ear thingie (great word I know) and the leather option so the user can choose whichever they find more comfortable.

We get ours from Autrix , speak to Ettiene and he should be able to help you out.

Hey wamatt,

I've been playing with VOIP recently again, talking to my dad who lives in Uganda. I havent used normal wired headsets and dont have a clue how much they cost, so i can't advise you on that. What I've been doing lately, which works very well so far, is using a Nokia Bluetooth headset with a Stock bluetooth dongle which can handle audio. Im sure that any generic headset would do the trick though.

It would probably work out to be too expensive what you need it too do, just a thought though.

The best headsets available in SA are the following (in this order)
1 Plantronics - price range R 150 to R3500.00
2 Senheiser
3 Logitech

I have used a lot of the Plantronics headsets, and played with some of the Senheiser, but not used the Logitech.

You really do get what you pay for. The more exspensive plantronics headsets have DSP, and Noise cancelling on the mic, and when you make VOIP calls with these they do enhance the quality of the call.Plantronics headsets were the first to go to the moon, and this company is very big in the Call Center market.

I have not tried other headsets in SA, so no flaming for my opinion.

AddCom

It's probably been a few years since this thread but I bought a brand new Addcom Headset from these guys the other day really not shabby at all very good and comfortable to wear also much cheaper then Plantronics. The guy I spoke on the phone reckons the Sound Quality is exactly the same and he was right. I actually prefer them to the others and they work great.
Got it delivered to my door which is a bonus I can't remember when last I left the house with all the online shopping I'm doing these days.

Hope that helps anyone else here.

Plantronics for headsets definately, nothing beats them... I've had great success with ATOM (not the best looking, but solid as a brick) as well as Snom handsets on 100+ extension systems

Thank you for the kind words Anti. We don't often get to hear much feedback from our client base so we are thrilled that you liked the ADD-COM we sent you. Savage does have a point as the Plantronics are an excellent choice as well. We recently where awarded a gold distributorship for Plantronics Headsets in the Gauteng province which we are really chuffed about but will continue to offer the ADD-COM range as a budget conscious alternative.

Regards Sean

If you are looking for good quality, comfortable headsets, Addcom can offer all of these features. These award winning headsets incorporate inovative design for all day comfort. They are on a par with Plantronics and GN Netcom in quality, but come to you at a more cost effective price.

By the way I ended up sitting on my Add-Com headset and it broke so just got a Plantronics CS351 SupraPlus from Headsets4U again. This thing is really worth the extra cash I paid though more bells and whistles then the ADD-COM I had. Was certainly worth the little extra cash as well. In the words of ponder
Plantronics, love them.
I can see what you mean now Ponder these newest models are absolutely awesome and worth every cent.
