Best processor for Gaming and AMD processors explained

Well, I'm just comparing X58 to P55 here - saying that given a higher budget x58 makes more sense than P55 IMO. And sorry I really disagree that dual gpu at least capability isn't a key feature of a gaming PC. It can greatly limit future upgrade potential.

On a high budget sure, X58 all the way, though I'd still consider my actual use of the machine. As for dual GPU what I meant was you dont need 2 cards to classify it as a gaming PC. A board with dual slots is a must I agree, but even x8 wont limit you unless you have a GTX480 or HD5870 sitting in there. At which point if you can afford two of either of those cards then you can afford a proper X58 or 890FX mobo.

Actually even a gtx275/5830 feels the limit of an 8x slot.

Dont see why we talking xfire or SLi when i bet OP will never go that path.. I mean he is scared of slight OC.. An extra card = extra heat and extra power draw.. Not to mention the recurring driver problems..

You really only need to consider the p55 or 890gx.. There is no point over specking your system for "future potential" if you not going to use it! It's just wasting money... IMO

Most if not all current cards will feel the limit of an x8 Albeit by only 5-10% max decrease

AMD platforms are more scalable and cheaper to get hold of. AMD also have less shady business practices - hence the fact that intel had to pay a $1.25 Billion settlement to AMD.

But hey, if you don't care for using products tested on animals or buying stolen goods or clothes made in a chinese sweatshop full of toddlers then I guess you will not have a problem buying intel.

wow, thanx guys. Am getting a lot of useful info here :D

So which brand of Motherboard would you guys consider? Asus, Gigabyte....actually, what do you guys think if EVGA boards?

Stick with the A-list. ASUS is great, I'll even go for a B-list option like BioStar.
Had too many GigaByte and EPOX boards give up the ghost on me.
