Hey everyone, I am looking for recommendations for an affordable but trustworthy brand to buy whey protein from.
I am still a student so looking for the best bang for my buck.
I have heard some brands is not very honest with what you receive in your protein powder.
Any suggestions?

Haven't seen whey protein that is affordable, in a long time. The prices became so ridiculous after covid years. I would say that you have a bargain if you pay R300 p/kg.

You can get Free range chicken fillets for R80 and Rump / Club steaks for R109 per kg at Spar.
Damn thats a good price for steak these days. But ya, you pay more for the convenience of quickly and easily making (and consuming) your protein.

If you're putting effort into exercise, you can put effort into food prep.

Yes exactly, even the cheaper brands are asking R400+ p/kg.

Very valid point.

Personally don't know about brands being dishonest, but you should be able to educate yourself if you read the labels, unless you mean that they are lying on the labels. Depending on what your goals are the information on the label that would be applicable to you might differ. Personally I think that BCAA's and EAA's are a bunch of nonsense meant to be selling buzz words for stuff, which many brands underdose anyways, you might be consuming in your normal diet already. If you are looking to gain weight then the higher the energy (Kj)/calorie amount the better. If only looking at gaining lean muscle then Protein is probably the only thing you need to worry about.

just came across this. This looks very, very good in my opinion.

What for black Friday. Nutritech is usually 50% off, or 3 for 2.

Great, thank you, this helps.
Yes I am talking about brands lying on their labels, I have heard USN has done it? I heard it from someone so I am not sure if this is true or not, I did try to do research about it but I did not find anything.

I am trying to build muscle, I already eat chicken and tuna but I am looking for something to use when I don't always have the time to make food. I also want to use the protein powder because it is less calories and less fat than eating for example biltong or something like that.

I see Makro had a special on Evox whey protein. Is it a decent brand to try? The price is R560 for 2kg which is most affordable I could find in a long time.

I keep telling people beef is tastier and less than a third of the price per kg.
