Best replacement car for Golf 7

The two questions we should be asking are:

- any particular reason you want a replacement for a rather competent Golf 7? Changing lifestyle or requirements perhaps?

- is said Golf 7 paid off or still under finance?

VW breaks all the time. I think that is the reason.

I asked the question(s) to gauge the reason for him wanting to get rid of it.

I recall the same oak with the oil issue on another thread. Your vague statement while perhaps humourous is not constructive.

Most likely he is trying to flog it due to oil issue but if he can clear that up it will be helpful.

Cause he wants respect :whistle::D

:wtf: really? You reported me? He asked for the best replacement....anything is better than VW

It's the Ignis, it triggers me.

I'm currently looking for a replacement that will give me the same features and comfort without the mechanical issues and headaches,

Looking in the same price range and it should have the same or better power, features, space etc,

Hi Fiesta

Endless problems with the Golf 7

Sitting on 115000 and already had to replace gearbox under warranty and now oil consumption is getting higher meaning rebuild of engine is next

Such low mileage and so expensive yet can't even last. So ridiculous and disappointing for a so called premium hatchback

Ok, thanks for that context. That is indeed a major bummer.

Next best hatch option arguably is the Astra.

Another good option is the Mazda 3 & Focus.

What year and at what mileage did the gearbox fail?

(I have an A3 with the same gearbox but no issues yet).

New Renault Megane 4 GT Line

2013 model failed at 60000km in 2015, it's now using a litre of oil every 2000km. Not sure if third party mastercar will cover full 40k repair and if it's even worth going that route based on the cars history. Not sure if it's only the 2013s that gave issues. Also saw threads about A3s giving same oil consumption issues, otherwise I would have considered the A3 sedan
