Thankfully, mine is 2014 and passed 70000 kms without oil or gearbox issues. Crossing fingers for it to remain this way.

I thought only the previous generation had this issue though.

I enquired about the Astra above and turns out the engine was rebuilt at 30000km hence selling at cost,

Can't believe these modern day engines are so unreliable. I've never heard of so many engine problems back in the day when cars used to actually last and 100000km was considered low mileage
 
Ford Focus Ecoboost. Auto box not so nice I hear, but the manual box is amazing. Lots of features too for the price. Or maybe a used ST?

Ford Focus 1.5T Trend you can get a 2017 with about 20k (or less maybe) for around 260k. Some come with the styling pack and drivers pack (pdc and park assist, etc) Looking to upgrade if possible myself by year end to thr focus.
 
The Golf probably has the more conservative styling approach as VW tends te evolutionise their models as opposed to revolutionise. The VW would probably 'age' the better of the lot, but my pick would be the Megane or the Focus depending on preference and the value adds.

After all, you're buying a car to ride now, not ten years from now :)
 
The focus interior is crap and infotainment system very dated don't you guys agree? The body styling is also out of shape in my opinion
