What is the best second hand car for ±55K?? Fiat? qq?

Toyota Yaris. we just sold the GF T1 3 dr yaris for R49950

Looking for something as a starting car. 55K is what I have. I know nothing about these things, I'm in the dark :o

In that case, Getz, Tazz, yaris are good choices. Stay away from qq, tata, fiat.

You have 55k, but in the OP you mention financing? Does that mean you have a higher budget?

I don't really get this pimping of tazz's, yaris's or corsa lites. Just the other day a friend on facebook posted pics of his pimped out tazz. He spent about R10k on new rims and sound. It's still a tazz and doesn't look good at all.

With a budget of 55k, I doubt the OP is concerned about "pimping"... Probably just looking for something to get to and from work...That said, I would rather drive a stock standard car for 55k, than driving a car with custom spoiler, mags and lekker sound, you know what I'm saying bru:D

Edit: And how could I forget the dropped suspension and free flow:wtf:

The last 20K mile to 55K. Or should I rather be looking at 60k? I basically have deposit of 35K max looking for monthly repayments + insurance around 1500.

That is the aim, but I don't want some ****ty car, well least ****ty car for that price.
 
Keep in mind that banks' interest in financing a car will decline with said car's increasing age and mileage - older than 8 years and you can forget about getting finance. What I'd look at, not necessarily in this order:

2007 and later
Opel Corsa Lite
Kia Picanto
Citroen C1 / Peugeot 107 - tiny, but I dig 'em. Toyota Aygo with French badges.
Hyundai Getz

2002 to 2006 - almost guaranteed to be 100,000km +
Opel Astra
Toyota Tazz
VW Polo
Nissan Almera - good value to be had, but utterly soulless

Random bits of advice:

Don't buy Chinese. Don't buy Indian. Don't ever be hasty when shopping for a car. If something strikes your fancy, have someone knowledgeable look it over before getting excited. Speak to the previous owner if possible; ask the dealer for their details, or check the front of the service book. Don't get suckered into buying a car with marginal tread on the tyres. Test-drive a wide variety of cars, as something you might not seriously have considered might strike a chord with you once you're behind the wheel. Decide whether you're leaning towards a newer, smaller car or an older, larger car - the former will likely be cheaper to run but will necessitate some concessions in terms of practicality.

I'm sure others will have more to add.

Eh, why not get a 2001+ Honda Ballade or Toyota Corolla? That would be around R45k-R50k and they are decent cars.

Then again they are not really pretty but neither is a Tazz.
 
I would look into a Polo 1.9 TDI if you could find one for that price
 
You are going to finance so you need to buy newish...you can get a Yaris for around R60k with under 150k km, But you have to shop with your eyes open because you are buying at the bottom end of that market. But probably the car I would go for if I were you.

Tazzzz...ugh...if you have to go that direction, buy an old one for cash, just search for some old lady with a low milage one, you get the same thing...

Corsa....not bad cars, but I'm not a big fan of used Opels.

Getz are also in that range & a good buy, but the newer financable ones may again put you at the bottom end of the market...so be carefull.

Just watch out that you don't get carried away with buying up. The fancier car you get for your R60k the bigger the potential of buying someone else's lemon...
