I have the Sunsynk 8kw with Hubble 5.5Kw battery.
Will add solar panels later.
Don't even know about loadshedding at all.
We used the stove by accident last Saturday during loadshedding for around 30min. Battery lost around 10% over that time. Oven was already at the required heat, so was just switching on every few minutes to keep temperature.
What loadshedding last Saturday? Load shedding has only been happening since Monday night?

Depends on location

Kya Sands been having "load shedding" for almost 3 weeks now, with some sessions lasting a full day.

Solar is the cheaper part of the installation if you shelling out for this already just add solar to the mix and almost be off the grid.

Sorry, not loadshedding, tree fell on power cables feeding the town. Had to look up why people were complaining again on our towns Telegram group :)

Can they trip if you accidentally cross way over 8kw? or does it cause damage?

They shouldn't if its momentary (up to 15mins i think) and if its not way over. On my 5kw i have gone to 6kw and it hasnt complained but it was for about 3-4mins max

ok. I'm just wondering like if someone forgets and turns a geyser back on or starts up an AC and the inverter is still switched in place.

I assume there's an automatic changeover switch to switch between Eskom feed into the house, and the Inverter's feed?

its so seamless i don't even register that Eskom has been cut / reconnected. Lights don't flicker, motors (AC or pool) don't rev up or down.

In terms of going over - i think it depends on how much beyond the rated - will try find the spec sheets for you for the 5 and 8kw.

The oven, lights, PCs all combined were pulling 2.2kw at worse, going down to <800W while the oven is on temperature.

Anyone got experience with these units:

SOL-I-AX-5P64 MECER HYBRID 5000VA / 5000W Inverter Charger 4 000W MPPT 220V 48V DC PF1 64V Battery Charger

Also, can you get auto-switchover for them so it comes in the same line as my generator's cable used? I don't want to run permanently off the Inverter since it will not cope with the house max draw anyway, but its enough for what we need during load-shedding.

Finally, it says up to 9 can be connected in parallel. If I connect 2 - does that mean it can do 10 000W of power draw?

Yes, they are decent inverters but very basic, how much are you paying for it?

Which inverter brands come with built in wifi and an app to monitor usage? A lan port will also do.

I mentioned it as in "look how much this thing costs".

Not looking to spend 300k lol.

What I would like is around 5kva for now with enough power for 4 hours of full draw, and an automatic changeover switch to switch to the inverter when Eskom goes off. No solar.

In future, I would then like to double it to 10kva still as above.

You also mentioned 3 phase & i think that opens some different problems than just a single phase setup.
eg: You need a 3 phase inverter or x3 single phase inverters.

There are several, it depends on your budget, the best reasonably priced inverter in the land.
