Best steak ?

You can probably buy 8 nice steaks, for what a couple will spend eating at a restaurant.
Jissis, now I'm hungry....will get steak for tonight

The new Turn & Tender in Riversquare makes a damn good steak. And I am really FOS when it comes to steak.

Hussar Grill was always my favourite steakhouse, they have a few in Gauteng.

To whoever suggested soaking steak in sauce overnight may your cursed soul rot in hell :whistling:. If you want to add flavour use a board sauce, like a chimichurri or something, or use infused oils in the frying.

Whats cool about Local Grill is you can choose from Grass Fed, Grain Fed, Wet Aged Dry Aged. You can even do a platter where you have one of each so you can taste how much of a difference each one makes. I havent seen that on offer anywhere else.
They also do a meat appreciation where if you have 8 to 12 friends you get a private dinning room and then you get taken into the kitchen where they explain all the different cuts and cooking methods. Its incredible.

Thick cut of rump steak on the braai with salt - Rare. Take off braai, rest for 5min, and slice and dip in salt, pepper, chilli sauce, and or lemon juice. Done.

Agree with those who mentioned the Local Grill. Best steak restaurant in Joburg.

Agree even more with those who say cook it at home. The most important thing is sourcing a sweet-ass cut of meat and cooking it right. It will be better than anything you can buy in a restaurant.

The Grillhouse. All of them are good but the one in Rosebank is the best.

Agree, Ive been to a few steakhouses in Joburg and Ive liked Grillhouse the most. I went to the melrose arch one recently and it also compared well to Rosebank.

Anyway, this whole thing of bragging about how great your steak is at home so why would anyone want to eat out is BS. Anyone can cook a steak but can you do perfect fries, bearnaise sauce or truffle butter? Can you sous vide a filet then sear it on a fire to perfection? A good steak house adds a lot of value over what you can do by yourself.

Mmm sous vide is something I want to dip my toes into! Need to look at picking up a unit locally!

Side note just picked up a 27day dry aged tbone for dinner :)

Try this one Che Argentine Grill.
I have not tried them myself and it is not Halaal, but I know Argentinians make the best meat in the world.

wonder how many people are going to have steak this evening :) (think I'm going to try grab one on the way home)
I'm definitely going to dig some Kudu steaks out the freezer for tomorrow night.

Any steak should be cooked on a braai or very hot skillet sans any type of rub, marinade or spices. These are for other cuts of meat. The outside should be seared as quickly as possible, then allow the inside to cook a bit. Turn first time when juices start pooling on the top. Do the same for the other side. Then the steak is "blue" and read to eat. You may now season the steak and flip it to char the seasoning. If you want to cook it any longer, rather chew on a piece of charcoal.

Mature Ribye or rump scorched for 2 minutes on each side on a wood-fire open flame. When you flip it it should look like an explosion.
With rough salt and black pepper... nothing fancy... best meat out there.
Give me a plate of that, screw the chips salad or spud

Checkers.
Braai it on a hot fire, just add some salt and pepper. Medium rare.
