Best tracking software for GPS phone ?

I want to know if there is any software better than gpsed.com for tracking the whereabouts of your phone?

GPSed is good, but the two things I dislike about it is the fact that it is a java app (not Symbian) and that you need to have an active track in order for it to show your position on the whereis page ( in my case : http://www.gpsed.com/whereis/rouxenator )

I would love to have a symbian app for this, one that starts up in the background when you switch on the phone and does not show as a running application when you look in the task manager.

The reason I want this is so that when my Nokia N82 is part of an affirmative shopping adventure I want to be able to track it down.

Any advice will be welcome.

My advice: Become a lawyer

I have a sister and she is a lawyer. We already had to many fights as kids so me being a lawyer will be detrimental to my family relations. I will stick to being an IT-Wiseguy-Mr-Know-it-all-type-person.

How does this GPSed work? Do you have to manually upload your tracks? Aspicore GSM Tracker can be set to send your position to your desktop at regular intervals. It uses UDP, a very lightweight protocol (100 Bytes per message). This allows almost virtual realtime tracking via Google Earth or Google Maps. The only problem is that having your GPS running continuously, will eat into your battery power fairly quickly. I believe that you can activate the GPS remotely via SMS. I doubt this will help much if your phone is stolen because your SIM will most probably be swapped at the first opportunity.

I suspect it has to send an SMS every so often with the current position. This is how other trackers work.

No like I said, it uses UDP (User Datagram Protocol) which is only about 100 Bytes per position message. Your phone can send many messages for the price of a single SMS. I don't know why other trackers insist on using SMSs to send positions when there is an alternative and much cheaper method.

The GPSed client (Java) connects to the internet (via EDGE/3G/Wifi or whatever your phone has) and then updates your position at set intervals. It also records the track as a file on your phone.

I am looking for something more native for symbian phones - it must run in the background as a service.
