Hi All
Bought shogun2 and portal 2 for cheap cheap this week on steam but I cannot download them.
So I have to get uncapped ADSL which will be used 99% just for downloading my steam games.
Who is the most "steam friendly" ISP, that will tolerate my downloading 20+GB in games per month?

For me personally Axxess or Afri host I havent used web africa but hear they not bad

Seriously?

I just phone webafrica and afrihost now.
webafrica is happy as long as you download the games 19:00->06:00 in the evenings, but will throttle the sh*t out of you if you try it during the day
afrihost did not know what their view on steam is

Mweb.

They don't give a damn about when you download steam content and they won't punish you for doing so.

For the price nobody beats them.

Yep, best value uncapped offering atm.

Mweb.

Have hit a large game download in 5-6 hours ( Alan Wake ).

On what line speed, cause I'm looking at 384kbps?
I already have 5GB Cell C, so there's no sense in paying extra $ for a 1-4MB line just for steam

ps: after huge anticipation I was dissapointed by alan wake, seems like I just enjoy running around killing stuff

MWEB won't throttle you ever. For Steam or otherwise.

It would be pretty pointless, as during the day people are at work. That's precisely the best time to download as you aren't using the connection for anything else.

Also, MWEB has 2 of their own Steam CDN servers, so it's always fast, just select the one closest to you (JHB or Cape Town)

I have a R29 (regular price R39) 2GB Capped WebAfrica account.

I've modified my Steam to use their content server (WAGE) exclusively (google Steam Manager).

So far I've had no problem downloading any of the Steam games using this account. It doesn't count towards my cap because it's getting the data from WAGE, which is part of the FreeZone.

Download is at full speed on my 4Mbps line, even during the day and work-hours.

HTH

Mweb. They (also) have a Steam mirror and they say they don't have a problem with you going bos (crazy) on Steam downloads.

WebAfrica's Freezone is also very nice, but they don't offer this with their uncapped packages.

I do some gaming on my line and get pings of 10 - 50 on HON, cs source and tf2 so axxess for me is awesome

They have never shaped me and I download between 80 Gb and 120 Gb a month :D

Hows mweb on ping ?

Mweb. I downloaded 8 games on steam in December at full speed 24/7. No problem at all.
