Best VPN for P2P

After some digging i found it, thanks!!

You guys are making it difficult now again :D , have you tested this service?, What speed do you get on your torrents?, how is your browsing speed?, Have you tried streaming?
It's just settings for u torrent so torrents just work. Nothing else affected.

Basically if you have a VPS or dedicated server somewhere you can install OpenVPN on it. OpenVPN Access Server makes this really easy: https://openvpn.net/index.php/access-server/download-openvpn-as-sw.html

Mine runs as a dedicated VM instance on a dedicated server. Don't use it much, only really when I'm travelling and have to use public wifi.

So basically if i rent a VPS from someone (preferably in Sweden), i can install OpenVPN and connect via it?
Interesting.
Thanks!!

Don't forget, though, that the authorities can track down the owner of that VPS. So you won't get much in the way of anonymity.

But they will track it down in Sweden as i'm not the owner, i'm only renting from someone in Sweden. Doubt the Swedish authorities will work hand in hand with the South African authorities to track down a guy who downloaded a show or 2.

But yeah, its probably better and safer using a paid VPN, i bet they get hundreds of inquiries etc and know exactly how to handle it.

You just have to ensure the VPS supports it. You need tun/tap enabled in the kernel, most virtualisation technologies support this but often has to be enabled per instance by the provider.

Well, airvpn is a fail. Mikrotik does not work with it... (wtf)

They advertise it as OpenVPN which should work with Mikrotik: https://support.hidemyass.com/hc/en-us/articles/204558497-Mikrotik-Client-Setup (example from hidemyass)

Mikrotik does not support various aspects of openvpn v2.0 (udp, certificate authentication, etc)

From IronSockets's support desk:
There are limitations on the OpenVPN Client settings available on Mikrotik router and is not compatible with our OpenVPN servers.
This router does NOT support:
1. LZO compression
This is mandatory to connect to our OpenVPN servers.
2. UDP
Although we support TCP, it is slow compared to UDP.

There are more than a hundred requests for these two (2) features in the last 3 years but unfortunately, Mikrotik has no plans of supporting them.
See http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=77898

As an alternative, we recommend using L2TP.

Bummer. Although Mikrotik should really support those features, AirVPN could easily support the lack of them.

Indeed.
Airvpn refunded me very quickly, no complaints about their service.
Will see how ironsockets performs in the next while...
Mikrotik needs to pull finger!

this might be a stupid question, Does torgaurd stand for "torrent guard" or like the TOR network?
The reason I ask is, i'm not seeing anything about P2P on the website.

Torgaurd can use either VPN or socks5 configuration through your torrent client.

When I was using socks5 I did pick up that it would not connect at times, would leave it overnight and would download +- 15 gigs.

My speed tests would be 15Mbps and the torrents would download at a solid 2MBps.

You can download a tracker via torgaurd that confirms that you are using a different IP address and not one allocates by your ISP.

Still have to play a bit to tweak it.

Mikrotik support says it will be supported in routerOS 7.
Beta maybe this year .

IronSocket VPN is up according to router, but zero throughput... Support ticket logged.

Whatever happened to Ironsocket please?
Also looking for a good VPN, to work with Exodus/Kodi and Sonarr/SABNZBD

Bump for this thread - some solid recommendations please guys - trying to get my setup sorted and am the point of choosing vpn and/or rss servers...

Also, maybe a noob question, but is all vpn traffic allocated to the 50GB p2p cap? No exceptions?

No . . . P2P and VPN will be regarded as seperate traffic. Assuming you refering to the Telkom LTE cap ?

All p2p traffic will pass through the VPN and will not be seen by your isp as such.
