Hi all,

I would like to put on quite a lot of weight. Due to my fast metabolism i find this very difficult i think ive gained 5KG's in 4 years.

Please dont suggest I eat more because that doesnt help, I usually get quite full quickly.

Ive got my eye on Evox 5XL 5KG Muscle Meal (R630) can anyone vouch for this product or suggest a better one?

Stats:

1.7M
60KG
Budget R800 Max

Have you tried the stronglifts 5x5 diet? My friend was a walking tooth pick & he tried it, he looks like a regular sized guy now.

As long as you are fit and healthy why do you want to gain weight? (serious question)

I'd imagine he is wanting to build some quality muscle. I am making that inference based on the product he is looking at, a typical mass gainer supplement.

Now onto the topic. Unfortunately it does come down to calorie consumption. Whether you are getting the calories from a supplement or food...it is down to calories.

There is a saying in weightlifting. Eat for the weight you'd like to be. Based on your stats you are a pure ectomorph and if you take the time to read the success stories of other ectos like yourself, you will see that many of them had to eat in excess of 4000-5000 calories to grow.

It is not what you want to hear but it is the truth. You will most likely have to eat till you feel like puking. That, coupled with training and you will grow. Simple biology. Feel free to invest in mass gainers - they are filled with cheap filler carb products (dextrose and maltrose) - and in my opinion you will be far better served by investing in quality foods and carbs. Sweet potato and brown rice come to mind.

Again, not what you want to hear, but it is the truth. You can ask on any training forum and you will get the same answer.

Where did you find Evox 5XL for R630? Normal price is R530, dont overpay.

Secondly, in my opinion, better option would be Formidable Mass mixed with whey protein, if you are training.

A supplement is just that, it supplements your diet. You have to eat more, that will be the only way I am sorry to say.

It also does not help you eat a whole lot of crap, you have to eat certain foods certain times of the day. By only using supplements you will be wasting all of that money on something that's basically just sugar.

PM me if you want a decent diet and I gaurentee you, you WILL pick up weight, and a lot of weight, you must just be willing to eat.

At first the amount you have to eat is huge but after a week you will be used to it.

do you want to gain weight as in build muscle or just get fat?

if you just want to get fat then pig out on carbs and lots of sugar and don't worry about the side effects on your health in later years, if you want to gain muscle mass then it's off to gym for you my boy with lots of hard work

Have you ever heard of the GOMAD diet?, basically drink 4 liters milk each day and you will pick up lots of weight. (apparently)

Diet diet diet

Solid foods

read up on macros, calories etc

You need to get in protein fats en carbs in the right ratio

Klap Gym Boet!

Take a high Carb Protein supplement.

You need to eat more plain and simple, that supplement alone wont cut it. Your body will get used to the more food(healthy food)

you do realize that by taking this supplement you are by definition eating more

caloric surplus = weight gain

how you get to that surplus is your own choice

It's very basic. If you aren't gaining weight then you need to take in more calories. If you are full, then you have to force yourself to eat more until your body adjusts to eating more.

If you say that you're eating loads but can't gain weight. Eat more. If you can't do that then stop wasting everyone's time here and carry on being skinny because that's the only way to get bigger -> more calories. Damn I'm sick of people saying they can't gain weight no matter how much they eat. BULL!

Good day. I just happened to stumble upon this thread and was hoping you could help me. I also need to gain a lot of weight. I am currently 20kg underweight and recovering from chemo. I have always struggled to gain weight and it it getting to me on a social and personal level. PLEASE can you help me with a suitable eating plan to help me gain weight. I know I need about 4000 calories a day according to my research. I am 1.89m and weight 65kg and I am 39 years old.

Found that using Starting Strength from Mark Rippetoe was a great book. 3/4 Core exercises that increment to gain strength - hunger comes from that - and yes, it is completely how much you eat. If the supplements get you to 4-5k calories so be it, but without a need for muscle growth I found myself wanting to quit eating. Doing the strength training I didn't have an issue.

Eat like this:
