Best Wireless Broadband in Centurion!

I just want to ask the guys who have signed up with level-7 if they are still happy with the service?

I have been with Level-7 for a month now. There has been a couple of days that the service was interrupted or slow due to maintenance on their side. On all occasions they have let me know about it via sms. Last night the connection was very slow and I received an sms from them (stating that they are aware of this and are working on it) before I was able to complete a speed test.
Normally I get about 2.32 Mbs download and 0.76 Mbs upload with a ping of 25 ms. This is on their 2 Mbs service.
The downside as with most WISP's I believe is that torrents are very slow and DNS services like Unotelly is blocked. They have asked me to try Unotelly's VPPN service, but I have not been able to test this at all.
Hope this helps.

Hi Nicolastfoto,

Thanks for the feedback we value it! The Unotelly problem we are still trying to solve, its not really that we block it but just that our upstream ISP cache's our traffic and their proxy does its own DNS look up so even though you have your UNO DNS running it ends up using the proxies DNS each time and Netflix doesnt open.

Ill be sending you another proxy to try, otherwise we have another idea we are working on and will communicate this with your shortly.

Thanx guys! Much appreciated. Like I said: happy with the service and level of feedback is great!

I have been connected now for about 3 weeks and it is great. The service is awesome and fast
I can recommend them with a smile. Telkom can go fly a kite

I use unotelly vpn and it is working great.

EddG what do you play it through? Microserver or PS3? Also can you tell us what connection you are on and do you experience any buffering?

The Vpn is setup on my Mikrotik Routerboard. I had to add few of routes for the setup to work. So all my devices work perfectly. I've got the 4 meg connection. Netflix buffers quick in the beginning and is stable through the streaming. The quality jumps between 480 and 385, and even sometimes goes up to 720/1080. But I can say the quality on 480 looks like it is HD. I've got a 51" plasma and at 480 it looks perfect.

Most of my streaming is done through my WDTV and it uses a wireless connection.

I tried the UnoTelly VPN solution over the weekend and on a 2 meg line its just impossible. Where my normal connection would give me between 1.5 and 1.8 Mbps the VPN was connecting at between 500 and 700 Kbps. Hulu was impossible to watch with constant buffering. Netflix fared a little bit better but quality was terrible.

On a side note, was everybody's speed terrible this morning?

Just want to say....Level-7 put in A LOT of effort and time to help.... THANKS GUYS!!!

I really recommend them!!!

Since my adsl line has been unable to authenticate, i'm seriously considering going back to Wimax or a WISP...

Can someone explain though, a R200 difference between 2mbit and 4mbit, then a R600 jump to 6mbit? seems quite a big jump??

Hello Everyone!

We have quietly been working the background - our coverage has expanded to cover Eco Park and Highveld business park area !

I'm not sure how accurate your coverage map is, but I would definitely recommend trying to get all the estates in Midstream covered as i'm sure there is a MASSIVE market for your services there. Moving there shortly so will be looking at various options in the months to come.

We do already cover some parts of midstream - please give us a shout when you move and we will see how we can help!

Having given up on Telkom ever having any spare ADSL Ports in Thatchfield gave Level 7 a call.
Igor & Michael came out last week for a Survey that went well. So had the Install done yesterday up and running on the 4 Meg Package. Have to say the level of service during the Installation and setup was second to none.

Two thumbs up on level-7

Hi Guys,

Just some quick feedback with regards to Level-7:

Around two and a half months ago; Chris and Mario came and sorted out the line of site at my premises in Arundo Estate with a high level of integrity and professionalism. I received my antenna and was setup within a week after confirmation of line of site; and on the receival of the new stock on the antennas. The install was done by Igor and a young tall guy with dark hair (Sorry, I forgot your
name), these two guys sorted out the install and later Chris came by to sort out the settings, they worked until very late the eventing to sort out my connection on site. It was done in a very professional manner.

The site had some initial bugs on it, but Chris and the team was working around the clock to give their customers the best service available.

If I can say one thing about their service, it would be; "They are the best in the country". They are always available to assist with any issues (even when I was bugging them at 11:30 PM on a Saturday, they would be responding within minute [I am probably what you would call - a very irritating customer])..

I am currently on the 8mbps line, and the ping is very good and stable and my speeds are very stable at around 8mbps.. In the last month, I have had zero issues with them, except when there is power outages, but in these cases, they would pick it up before I would and, notify their clients and work on fixing the problem (I have not had downtime for more than an hour or so in these case)..

For everyone trying to figure out what works and does not work; I have unotelly running perfectly, netflix and hulu+ on two apple tvs stream simultaneously (You will need at least a 5mbps stable to do this - stable 2.5mbps on one), all PlayStation services (psn, ps+ and online gaming [on international servers]), bittorrent (these are shaped a bit, but only in peak hours [This is I think from 6PM to 9PM] but the shaping is nothing to serious, which is perfect for me, as my wife and I watch netflix during those hours). As far as I have checked; they do not block anything.

If you are looking for good service and stable internet for watching some videos and maybe a bit of gaming, I highly recommend taking a line with them (The 2mbps is very well priced if you consider the price of 3g data with the mobile operators nad even if you consider line rental prices from Hellcom with a uncapped bundle on top [we could not get ADSL in our estate as Hellcom did no provisioning for newer estates]).

These guys are very-very good at what they do and I VERY HIGHLY recommend them. They are worth every penny. I have already converted my eldest brother to convert from one of the competitors (I will not mention whom they are, but their website lists their packages as MB (megabytes) per second instead of Mb (megabits) and when you call to confirm, they will assure you it is MBps, but when talking to the engineer whom does the server side settings it is apparent to be Mbps and that no-one in the firm doing sales knows the difference - which for all that do not know why this is important; is 8x the speed difference).

Also, to be noted; I have no affiliation with Level-7, nor do I get any compensation in any manner from giving then raving reviews (I am just a very satisfied customer).

Regards,
Jannie - The annoying Level-7 customer

Glad you got unotelly and the others working working
unfortunately I was waiting till this was sorted and in the meantime Telkom Mobile offered me a good deal on a contract renewal which I couldnt refuse.

Will definitely consider this when the contract is up or my situation changes

Glad you got unotelly and the others working

It worked from day 1 for me.. There is a trick to unodns, some routers are the cause of the problem and not the service providers.. The router I received from Level-7 worked 100%, I replaced the router with a Asus N13 (Which is a brilliant device to say the least - I wanted some more functionality for monitoring and remote downloading) does not allow the Unodns to work (The apple tv's on the other hand, bypasses some of the functions on the Asus, which allows me to use Unodns on them). Also, If you spoke to Chris or Mario, they would definitely be able to assist.. The cause of the unotelly problem was never them (as they never blocked this service ).

I contacted level-7 with a setup query and have had no reply as yet - anyone know if they are still in business?
