Howzit myBB fellows ...

I am so tired and gatvol for MTN ... I am ready to port.

Its now at a stage where I can call them thief's to be honest !

How compare the @#$@#$ MTN with the other 2 big networks ?

Well I ported from CellC contract to Telkom Mobile prepaid recently. And I have no complaints. Actually I am willing to say Telkom Mobile is a lot better than CellC.

Vodacom has great quality voice but data is generally expensive, depends on your needs.

I use a Vodacom Prepaid SIM in my duel SIM phone for making and taking calls, never issues. I use a Telkom contract SIM in the phone for data. 10GB just on my phone for like R139pm (one of their monthly specials), their LTE network is generally fast enough. No issues in Gauteng coverage.

They are all thieves. You just have to select a network based on your usage needs and the comms availability.

It was a big September deal, not anymore.
December deal is even better, as it uses all networks data bundle. It will roam MTN, you don't need to check coverage and you don't need dual SIM phone as call rates are 69c p/m: https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showth...als-now-with-100GB-once-off-all-networks-data.

Contract itself is very good with 100 minutes extra (as for all November deals) and all standard benefits of FreeMe 1GB package. 100GB extra data just adds a value.

I have tried a Telkom prepaid sim roaming on MTN (no Telkom in the sticks). Calls are fine, but I have noticed that data varies. In places where I have had full 3G both on MTN and Telkom, Telkom often drops to EDGE while MTN remains on 3G. me thinks that MTN prioritises its own customers ahead of roamers.

Not neccessary prioritising. It is your device hunting between MTN and Telkom for better connection. To prevent hunting, lock your device to MTN or Telkom, lock to the respective technology 3G or LTE or even specific frequency band (whathever works the best for you). It is very common problem where there are to many choices. See threads in the Telkom section where people find it useful to lock routers to the Telkom TDD band 40.

Like I said in my post "I have tried a Telkom prepaid sim roaming on MTN (no Telkom in the sticks)". We get MTN and, sometimes, Vodacom. And definitely no LTE for 100km.

I did mention LTE, as the same problem you are experiencing have Telkom users, also these users on the non-roaming packages, so MTN is not involved in such cases. Solution for you is to lock the phone (whathever device you have) on the manual network selection, and also force 3G-only. This will reduce hunting.
