You gave your money to the bank for safe keeping, if they failed they should pay back every cent and a bit more to say sorry for dropping the ball. Capitec is probably the best of a bad bunch that is why I'm staying with them for now.

The nerds in the bank IT departments are sharp as razor blades, I used to work with them. They can do a serious job on tracking down where the money went. There is no excuse to not get your money back when some scammer rips you off.

Every time I see a post with that little pokemon warrior I get a shiver of revulsion. Am I a bad person or do you all get that shiver?

Plus my post's, contradict what your implying.
The bank are covering their own butt's, like anyone would legally, but if it is obvious fraud they do actually payout.

You should tweet FNB and ask them if they'd pay back your money if your card got skimmed.

OK so we have 840 views and 30 replies but no real concern with signing and being legally accountable for the OP clauses.

If every bank does the same, that does still not make it OK.

Ok, so then discuss it with your mate the CEO... see how much he cares. They are limiting their legal liability, and would rather not have you as a client if you are not prepared to sign it... no bank will have you.

Actually I've been assured, by senior management, that the CEO does care and that is why I'm staying with Capitec.

Please tell me how you know the CEO is my mate?

@technofool the banks are covering themselves as best possible in regards to contracts, this is standard business practises as each party usually tries to cover themselves best possible when a contract is signed and get the best possible terms. Good luck one day when someone provides you with a rental agreement or a contract to buy a house.
You have the right to question everything in your contract with the bank, and thanks for doing so, as you have such a good relationship with "senior manangement" and they value your business so much I assume that they have taken heed to your concerns and will now change those clauses especially for you. Please could you ask them to change the clauses for all us laymen out there as well.
If for some ungodly reason they do not change these clauses to suit your needs, what you going to do? Is you matress big enough to hold all your cash, or will you be providing us with a summary of each banks terms and conditions in the near future?

That is the whole reason for my complaints, to change this contract to something more reasonable for every customer. They assure me that they will make 'some' changes. We will see what changes eventually happen. Need to keep up the pressure till it really happens. I'm going to stay with Capitec because they are probably still the best of a bad bunch of banks.

They tried to get rid of me by transferring my money to another bank. But I told them I don't have another account and I wanted the cash please. They wouldn't do that but after reading these threads they might change their minds.

The point is to stop them taking unfair advantage of busy, lazy or pressured clients who waive their important rights.

Yes I am thinking of the other banks and maybe some videos too. They hate being recorded because they sometimes try to baffle you with BS.

Are you high when you type your posts?
Or sitting wearing a tinfoil hat in a bunker?

The bottom line as was pointed out to you numerous times is pretty simple.
1. Your card is in your care therefore you are responsible for skimming/duplicating/theft.
2. The rules are there to limit liability and fraud.

1. Your card is in your care therefore you are responsible to use it in the way the bank tells you to use it. If it still gets skimmed/duplicated/stolen then it is the banks problem.
2. The rules are there to limit the banks liability and exposure to fraud not the client's.

There fixed it for you. What does it feel like to be schooled by someone you think is high?

Of course you're being assured of that.... Those management meetings must be quite amusing while they're all laughing at your idiocy.

Do you think they are also laughing at the 100's of comments and 1000's of views of my threads?
Do you think they like the idea that some customers might now waste conslutant's time while they read through 5 pages of Capitec fine print before they sign a dodgy agreement?
