Same same, many current toyotas are rebranded Suzuki's. You just get less features for more money with a shorter warranty. Basically a Suzuki for stupid people.

By the way, can anyone tell me the difference between those 5 Suzuki Grand Vitara models other than gearbox and hybrid/normal according to that list? E.g. the 1.5 GL vs the 1.5GLX auto

Almost all cheap cars available in SA are made in India, except the cheap Renault Nissan which are crap.
Currently all Suzuki's available in SA are made in India including the Jimny.
All Toyotas below the Corolla Cross are rebadged Suzuki's.

Cheap cars are all built down to a price, no matter where they are made...


To those bashing India, Rattan Tata owns Jaguar Land Rover... Indians saved Land Rover....
 
Makes sense to me that a car repeatedly stalled outright purely through braking with no clutch action while in a higher gear would suffer some gearbox damage if done regularly enough.

Introduce already cheap car into this mix with already lower end components in play and it’s bound to hand a bad time.

Not surprised at all by the warranty rejection or the failure.
 
My suzuki is a beast. I got the swift sport.

I don’t understand a few things here. I’ve seen Suzuki cars since we lived in Europe in the 90s and they were rock solid. They lived on and on and on..

From what I’ve heard from the the 2/3 people I know here in SA that bought Suzuki they’ve had no problems either. They just work a bit like Honda, and both are Japanese.

As for driving school cars, they never last long. A good friend of the family had a driving school for over 30 years here and they used to eat through Fords, Mazdas and Toyotas. Interestingly one of the t they found to last with long with minimal trouble was… Hyundais.

As for the Op, I would confirm what Suzuki considers as a warranty void event and go from there.

Some Suzuki cars in SA have rust issues, it's certainly not an isolated incident.

Hellopeter is full of these complaints.. Apparently the paint on them is also very thin. There are also many complaints of gearbox/clutch failures on these...

If it has the brands badge on, it should be considered a real representation of the brand. Anyone with a brain knows its not though, but stupid people still flock to toyota to buy that garbage.

The lower end models we get here aren’t real Suzukis and just re-badged Maruti-Suzuki cars which is their Indian low cost collaboration.

The same applies for many other historically big reliable brands like Toyota and Honda now in their lower end vehicles.

So in the last 10 years or so depending on model they don’t “just work” any more.

Find me a manufacturer in that price range who isn't cutting corners.
