Beware the taxman

Your employer should have given you an IRP5 certificate

Chances are slim :) Still haven't had any indication of an IRP5 and I'm not sure I ever will. Not much I can do about it though as far as I can tell. I've asked numerous times.

Any of the Tax fundi's care to venture an opinion?

i'm no tax fundi, but i am still trying to sort out my tax return for 2004, for which i did not receive an IRP5.

i sure hope you kept your payslips!!

basically, you have to either provide an IRP5 or payslips that prove that the tax was deducted. if you don't have either, you are liable for all tax on the actual amounts that was paid into your account (as if no tax was deducted).

i have been sending letters for two years now, but i think in the end i will just have to cough up (twice).

SARS can put you in touch with a consultant to help you fill in your tax return, at no charge.
does this mean they will put you in contact with a tax consultant at no charge or will the tax consultant help you fill in the tax return at no charge?
