Damn it

Ok everything loads fine, I even created an online account "Skaapbal"

Problem now is this:

I want to join a Single player map, make my selections and al goes well. When I join the client crashes to Windows again :(

Have you got the latest bf 2 patch? 1.41?

Have you check your gpu and cpu temps? is windows up to date?

Have you disabled your firewall or allowed bf 2?

Download the latest nvidia drivers. What settings are you running bf 2 and what system are you running it on?

1. No not as yet
2. GPU and CPU is cool as a breeze
3. No will check that quick
4. Busy downloading the latest one released today 119 MB's :(

edit:

Celeron 3.06 ghz
1024 MB ram
Geforce 6200 (258MB)

Try the new drivers, pit dude what settings you running bf 2 on man?

With that card i would suggest 800 x 600 with everything low and no AA.

Bf2 will run on that card but on the lowest settings.

Sweet, will try that. Where do i get to the setup screen in BF2 ?
I also have no sound .... :(

nvm, got that sorted too :p

Just look around under options i think, cannot remember been a long day :)

You'll find it though, remember everything low, do you know the model of your card because if its a 6200 and 64 bit it may not run bf 2, bf 2 supports only the 128 bit 6200 as far as i read.

The wierd thing is it runs Doom3 full settings at lightning speed
I'm checking the box but it doesn't say if it's 64 or 128

I'll get the Driver and then check from there. Latest is 178.24 My current driver is 84. something  I think the driver is the problem tbh

Bru bf2 is not going to be nice on that rig..

Good news.

BF2 runs like a bomb.

Bad news, it now crashes about 10 minutes into the game. And the patch 1.41 I downloaded the server I was doing it from was reset during the night /cry. So Now I need to start over afresh again. But from the little I saw of the game..... I love it :D

Something that caught my eye though. Why is the game so hungry on GFX ? Doesn't look that much different than AA and AA ran on my 64MB shared memory (Onboard)

Anyway.... going to try and fix the intermittend crashes now

Anyone know how to set my memory from dual channel to single channel ?

That is what is causing my ingame crashes apparently

another possible solution
***Disabled AC97 Integrated Audio from BIOS and Installed a PCI Soundblaster LIVE! card with the newest drivers for XP from creative labs. I have not had one crash since the change! GOOD LUCK guys!!!

Decided to just let it go.

No use trying every damn trick in the book and agitate myself to now end. I'm planning on having a PC build from scratch in January. So no use trying to pimp a lost cause of a machine.

I appreciate your help guys. I'll just stick to WoW and maybe download AA when I have the time.

Thanx again for all the help Killa ;)

Pit dude i'm telling you get the 1.41 patch, use a download manager and download from games.saix.net

BF2 is heavy on vga and cpu because its so vast, you have planes, choppers, tank anti air, infantry.

Its a very complex game unlike AA which is just a bunch of people running around shooting each.

I think the only way to stop dual channel is by removing one of the sticks. Also you know playing online chows around 30-50mb an hour right? :)

January the rand could be 15-16 to dolla, going to be expensive in january to build a system.

ag Killa mate,

I'm just damn sick of struggling. Will go back and play WoW till a BF3 comes out or something

Can you even run BF on a 6200 Nvidia?
I think thats where the issue is...

Hey the card is not that crap.

It runs BF2 nicely, I played for a while but then every 5 minutes or so it reboots the PC.

I have gooled it and people on 9600 cards got the same problem. Fact is this game is buggy as ****. Given I don't have the perfect rig, but seriously I have never struggled so much with anything in my life.

Doom3 which is very shader dependant plays like a dream on my machine. BF2 Runs perfectly, I even killed a few guys and got killed a couple hundred times. 5 minutes in, it reboots the PC. Tried again and the same bloody thing.

Now from the net there is 1000's of people who had the same problem from different rigs. And there is a 1000 solutions for it. But now I need to go and mess around on the machine again for a whole bloody day. I might as well just leave it.

I tried to download the Patch now for 2 days. And the servers either don't have the full patch or the servers restart. I can't get into the Saix FTP for some reason....

Sorry to hear it - definitely very demotivating having to deal with all those issues. Although it is really worth it once its running smoothly.
If you like mail me a blank dvd with a return envelope inside and ill write all the updates for you and send back.
Ur issue sounds like its driver related though...

Thanx Surv0

I think I'll do that. What i gathered from the web is that it is because of the Onboard Sound running on the Realtek AC97. This is what causes the 5 minute reboot crash. But now I need to fork out another R 400 just to play this game.....

Think I'll mess around with it still offline from time to time but my hope and anticipation to play this game has just gone down the drain.
