Hey guys,

I've been doing some testing recently and I can't confirm this for sure, but it seems to be that how often you get kicked/disconnected/timed out of servers, is affected by your ISP.

Here's the 3 isps I've tried:

Afrihost - Get kicked randomly after about 5 minutes.
FNB Connect - Get kicked randomly after about 15 minutes.
Mweb Uncapped (trial) - Don't get kicked.

I tested these ISPs playing 2 rounds of 24 man TDM with each ISP. If anyone else has noticed similar findings, drop a post here. It could just be completely random on my side :/

(I think the reason why Mweb doesn't kick people is due to the fact that gaming traffic gets the highest priority on their network. I think the other ISPs affect BF3 more with their shaping.)

Yea i have been getting kicked plenty tonight.

VB openweb but last night i played for 5 hours straight.

I dont think its ISP related. I only use one ISP, but on some days i can play 4-6 hours with no disconnects and on other days i get disconnects alot.

I hate to say this, but... Any ISP using IS as their backbone will give you problems. The moment I switched to a stock standard Telkom account, I don't get disconnected or experience any lag-spikes at all. I don't like forking out the extra cash, but it seems you get what you pay for in this case.

I think i can confidently say that gaming traffic would not get the highest priority on mweb's network :)

I dont get lag spikes (unless its server related), I dont get disconnected often (perhaps once an evening and roughly at the same time everyone else on mumble gets disconnected). I am on IS basic uncapped.

i got a 1mb line and ISP is Afrihost...i have to admit that gaming on afrihost gives insane lag... i play on Xbox and get 2-3/5 bars at most... i even upgraded my Billion 400G telkom router. now the lag is not so constant, but it looks like it build up and suddenly for 5 secs lags so much that my soldier would move back a good 50m. this happens every 10-15 mins... can anyone else give their experience regarding the same matter?? should i try and change my ISP??

This exact same thing happens with me on Afrihost. I tried a normal Telkom account and the problem completely disappeared.

Well, I've heard otherwise from the head of Gamezone, who gave a talk at the 2Up Gamers launch (http://www.facebook.com/2upgamers).

While I won't lie, logging into Origin and Battlelog are a PAIN on mweb uncapped, once I'm in the game runs far better than the other ISPs I tried out.
