Bf4 and fps

Hi

This is 50/50 hardware, gaming issue.

I random get pc performance drops...from constant 90-120 fps to 29-35 fps in bf4...

Can gpu be on the way out? Or what can cause be? What info u need more?
r9 290 ....amd 8350, 8gb ballistix sport ram..vertex 4 ssd and samsung evo

Hi

This could be caused by any number of things. You getting any screen glitches or artifacts? How old is your card? What temps does your card and cpu reach while gaming? Are you overclocking? Do you still get the random frame drops if you lower all settings in game?
 
I had an R9 290 as well, the reference card with the blower fan, and some time ago they updated the driver to make the card less noisy. That ended up throttling the card after a while. Use MSI afterburner and set a custom fan profile an see if it still happens.

If you have a second monitor you can watch the temps from there as well.

Also have ref card...custom fan auto speed..rarely goes over 70..card is so 2 years maby old?....Are OC little bit..not much...no artifacts ingame or glitches...
 
Install msi afterburner / riva tuner and log all you cpu & gpu stats. report back with the log file.
