I used to enjoy playing BF2 & BF2142 online but never got BFBC due to way too many other games. Talk of BF3 got me interested again, and with BFBC2 map packs & Vietnam coming up is it still worth to get?

Had a quick look at BF2142 online locally & it seems pretty dead so I'm especially interested in how many people still play BFBC2 online, local servers etc.

I got a i5 650 dual core, 4gig RAM and a gt220 card. Granted the card is pretty crappy but from what I read it is still supposedly comparable to a 8600 or lower end 8800 which in my opinion should not be the end of the world. I got it on a budget as my previous 8800 GTS card got fried by Starcraft 2 menu when I was AFK.

BFBC2 however is completely unplayable on my rig. And many hours wasted tweaking this and that and also having mouse lag problems and various other issues.

So only get it if you have a quad core and a decent graphics card I reckon - there are always about two servers pretty full with players. Still seems like a fun game but was money wasted on my part.... hey why not buy my copy? :p any offers?

I got it for my PS3 and play just about every night on full servers. Cannot comment on PC though.

I tend to see more 'new' players now with the new maps and with Vietnam coming out - you will find full servers every night for the next 6 months at least

I sometimes wonder how many people made a new soldier.

Still pretty active, and should get even more active with the new maps and the Vietnam expansion pack.

Dude 2142 died a long time ago. BF2 is still played online though, the guys organise "play nights". Check out games.saix.net and look for the BF2 forums. Also theres a BFBC2 forum aswell.

? Running a core 2 duo 8500, 4 gigs ram and 9600GT Extreme and game run beatifully. BC2 is much better than COD:BO for teamplay.

E8200, 4gb ram and a HD 4850. Runs everything at high, except shadows low and no aa at 1920x1080. The low shadows make little difference, and the game runs at 40fps average.

40fps?,i get mine to run at 60fps on medium and my pc is kinda old.can't wait for next year when i get my new rig.

I'd say get it, I got back to it last night after several months hiatus and the servers were still very active. I would suggest getting a quad core for this game, when I moved over from a dual core my performance skyrocketed.

Thx, this was exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Picking up my copy tonite.

Define beautifully for us? And what resolution?

Enough to competitively compete in the league and run with 4xAA. Res is at 1280 I think but if your trying to push high res on a low end card then you can expect bad performance. However he is complaining about mouse lag etc and I have none of that.
