A woman has got Biff into big trouble.
Outgoing Proteas one-day international captain Graeme Smith has been slammed for jetting off to Ireland with his new brunette girlfriend instead of flying home to face the media after losing to New Zealand in the World Cup quarterfinals.
Smith, known as "Biff" by fans and team-mates, didn't arrive with the rest of the team on Saturday night from yet another unsuccessful World Cup campaign - this time in India.
Not much is known about 25-year-old Eurovision backing singer Morgan Deane, with whom Smith is believed to have stayed abroad for a holiday.
The two are believed to be in love, judging from her Facebook profile picture in which she has her arms all over the cricket captain.
There are conflicting reports about where they are, though.
Proteas team doctor Mohammed Moosajee was quoted as saying that Smith had remained in India for "personal reasons".
Deane said on her Twitter page that she returned to her home country on the eve of the fateful match.
Ireland's Herald newspaper reported that Smith, who broke up with his Capetonian girlfriend Brigitte Sarembock months ago, is now with the backing singer, who is part of Irish pop band Industry.
Deane tried out for the X Factor singing competition five years ago but didn't qualify for the final 12.
The paper reported that Deane was "glowing with happiness" as she arrived home in Dublin to meet up with her bandmates after celebrating St Patrick's Day in Bangladesh with Smith and friends.
Deane, who hails from the Irish county of Cork, is reported to have recently split from boyfriend, Dave Murphy.
Sarembock doesn't appear to be moping over Smith. She posted a photo on her Facebook profile showing a man, whom she claimed was an Irish model, with his arm around her waist. The caption? "My man".
