Big demand for Microsoft Azure cloud services

There is big demand for all three big provider's cloud services.
Not sure why this is specific to Azure.

In a way it’s entirely relevant since MS will be first to market in SA and Africa with a local data center presence....

I will be moving my cloud services to Azure once they launch locally. I currently use a mix of Hetzner, AWS and Google, but I'm all for supporting and using a cloud service that is actually willing to invest and offer their services in Africa, whereas AWS and Google seem to have zero interest.

Can't speak for other businesses, but I'd imagine there's quite a few large corporate that haven't migrated to cloud services due to legal reasons (ie. keeping the data within South Africa), so Azure will certainly gain traction there. I actually hope other businesses jump ship to Azure in South Africa to show AWS and others that they can't keep ignoring Africa and pretending that a latency-heavy service is acceptable.

Many large enterprises will spread their cloud workload across the providers to minimize the risk factor of using a single service provider ...

But aws are slowly launching services in this country, there is already an edge location here or will be soon

Won't be holding my breath for AWS. They take about 1.5-2 years to add data centers after announcing them (based on the Bahrain data center announcement), so there won't be anything substantial before 2020 at this rate in SA from them. I know I'm coming across as a bit petulant about whole thing, but I really hope AWS and Google lose a lot of market share in Africa for their lack of willingness to invest in Africa (just talking cloud services here - I know AWS has a lot of employees locally).

Just really peeves me that international companies are happy to charge us premium pricing, but offer sub-standard services (I know it's not quite the same with cloud services, but realistically, most businesses are using them within South Africa and low-latency is becoming fundamental to online services). I prefer AWS due to their wide range of offerings that are constantly evolving, but Azure has improved enough to become a viable option when local servers are added into the mix.
