Big Matric 2016 upward mark adjustments

Why the **** are there adjustments to subjects with averages in the 60s already?
Did one of Zuma's spawn fail them?
 
And it's ****en scary that the maths average was twenty ****en seven percent, and maths lit not much better at 30....
 
Because a glut of school leavers with worthless passes is somehow better than a glut of school leavers without passes.
 
And the "Why" reason given in the article still gives (though somewhat clear?) reason to ask... WHY? Call me old school or whatever I can't recall in the late 80's & 90's this being the case but I could be wrong.

SA has apparently had some sort of committee which ensured results conformed to a statistical curve since 1975. So yeah adjustments appear to have been in place since way back then. Marks are adjusted up/down. This is done at university level too by the way.

Every department "corrects" it's stats so they hide their dismal performance. That's how the cadres roll.
 
I believe that exam results are adjusted to conform to a 'bell' (binomial expansion) curve. This is done in order to cater for exams which are too easy or too difficult and would thus skew the results. The idea is that the centre of the curve should conform with the middle of the results curve.

Of course this doesn't stop abuse for political or other reasons.
 
Why - well it is the easiest and cheapest way to get rid of a bunch of useless matrics. It unfortunately decreases the value of the results of the top learners ...

No comment. We are already about the slowest in africa with maths and science and then this. Derserving of a low class third world+ country.
 
Every dumb and useless decision made in this country, from Eskom to Nkandla to eTolls to Nuclear-gate can be drawn back to the useless education system in this country that further teaches kids how to be dumb and make bad decisions.

How then does the pass mark rate(higher I believe from the 70's to 94? and lower sometime post 94) affect this "statistical curve" and the upward downward adjustment if all was equal/same?
