Big petrol price increase expected

The price of petrol is expected to rise next month while other fuels drop in price, according to the Automobile Association (AA), which was commenting on unaudited mid-month fuel price data released by the Central Energy Fund.

The Association said the underlying fundamentals have been treading water in the first half of November.

Just in time for December holidays (for those still fortunate enough to do this), so the RAF gets more money for the government to loot.

Interesting, almost predictable, looking over the past few years, Nov- Dec price increases every "odd" year and decreases every even one

  • 93 octane petrol increase of 7c per litre
  • 95 octane petrol increase of 11c per litre
  • Diesel decrease of 18c per litre

Can we all agree that 11c per litre is not BIG? If it was R1 extra per litre then the word big can and should be used.
In a car getting 15km/l this will add an extra R8 to a round trip from PTA to DBN.

So a R5.83 difference if I brim my tank from completely empty. That is big. Time to rework my budget

Really wish people wouldn't have goldfish memory and stop thinking every December petrol goes up.
December 2018 - Petrol decreased by almost R2
December 2017 - Petrol increased by 71cents
December 2016 - Petrol decreased by 20 cents
December 2015 - Increased by 1c

So just in the last 4 years we can see that it's actually not easy to predict as it's either up or down, if you want a conspiracy why is it that on even years it decreases but on odd years it increases? Now there's something to ruminate on.

It only increases about half the time for for Nov > Dec for the past 12ish years, want me to post that stats?

And this won't change anything on the tax government collects per liter, or the RAF, please educate yourself.

Not an exact tick tock:

New and updated. So since 2005 is has increased less than 50% of the time. Doesn’t sound like usual to me. But yes, one can play around time period and change that %.

No then it would be gigantic. At least it's not massive.

According to SAPI
Compared with November of that year
2012 down, 2013 up, 2014 down, 2015 up, 2016 down, 2017 up, 2018 down, 2019 up... Seems fairly consistent to me

Actually went down again in 2011 sooooo
