Ok just need to make few people think a bit more...
1.) South-Africa wont be saved with a SNO, we will need a TNO,FNO,FIVNO(lol) and more to make prices drop. Every company wants to maximise profit, its natural and nothing wrong with that. The problem tho, they maximise on the competition ie. Telkom offer xspeed @ R500 / month, SNO will try offer at R490 or R480 a month, its cheaper and will attract users to it. If you had 3 or 4 or even 5, they will constantly push each other down to the limit of acceptable profit.
2.) Capping? Pathetic... they can just as well then make it a 64k permanent connection if your not suppose to download at high speeds.. Face it even 64k can do more than 3gig a month, what about 64k abusers? Shouldnt they be capped? ROFL or even 128k users. The whole capping industry is to maximise profit even if they end up minimising user base. For argument sake, it cost R50 / month for 3gig, each extra ADSL account cost R250 / month thats a solid profit of R200 per extra account and also an R200 profit on the original single account. If you didnt cap, and majority users downloaded 15gig a month which would work out roughly the cost of ISP account, just look at how much money Telkom would lose(this is a famous term companies use to determine possible profit as cash allready earned)
Anyways, think about it and Im sure most if not all will see some light in what I just said

I'm using 64k ISDN/Infinite Call at the moment and in a average month I pull between 6-10 gigs. Now if you’re going to give me something that’s 8 times the speed surely you can expect the result. While I won’t be pulling 80 gigs, it will DAMN well will be about 20-40. Now how sufficient is 3 GB if I exceed that by 2-3 times with a 8th of the speed? Not at all... 
Ideally I would prefer no cap (wouldn't we all), but as I've always said, 30GB would be reasonable. Especially for the ridiculously high cost of our ADSL.

Yes 30GB is reasonable - I mean I did 3 hours of heavy online gaming (BF9142 + lot of users) and I *only* did 250MB that day (incl web browsing)...so imho this is a 'good' cap restriction.
I'm very possibly being absolutely naïve here, but methinks any kind of constraint merely encourages abuse - it's the nature of the human animal. I think that given time, any user that deliberately rapes the service will eventually become somewhat jaded, and a sort-of self-imposed restraint will become the norm.
I take the example of the sexual freedoms in the Scandinavian countries - initially, it caused a high level of moral decay, but these days those societies are regarded as of high moral calibre, despite those freedoms still being in place. In like manner, I'm sure NOONE will tire of Big Boobs and Debbie, as will viewers of the soft-porn on e-TV and M-Net.
So... there should be no cap, and providers must learn to manage their resources within that framework appropriately, which does not necessarily imply constraining usage. Eventually, everybody will benefit...
