Bike going to be standing

Hi,

I will be immigrating in a few weeks, for probably 5 years at least and maybe visiting once or twice a year.

Now my bike, a Yamaha will be parked, I am not going to sell it. What is the best way to park a vehicle for long periods? Fuel and oil drained, not drained, new oil etc? I am not to sure. People say you can get condensation and rust in the fuel tank

If it's inside a garage drain the fuel and leave the filler open with a clean rag in the neck to avoid dust ingress. Place it on a center stand. If no center stand then onto a milk crate to get front and rear wheel off the ground. Let some air out the tires. Not completely flat. But drop it to about 1/2 a bar pressure. Disconnect the battery. Leave the oil. Leave the radiator water. Large chain and good quality lock through the frame and rims...

If things go pear or I come back on visits, I prefer to have a means of transport straight away. It will stay in my dads garage, so should be safe and sound.

but if the thing is left on a crate without fuel, a disconnected battery and half flat tyres you will not have transport straight away, it will be quite a mission for the maybe once a year visit for possibly a week or two, then you have to repeat the process to store it. Also someone would have to keep your license up to date.

Seems like effort to me.
 
You want to get the bike on stands...or be ready to replace the tyres when you do use it.

Letting the air out won't do for such a long period on time.

Then again even on stands the tyres will probably decay over 5 years anyway.

Just sell it, keep the money and when you visit use that money to rent a bike instead.
