The Competition Commission and Tribunal have warned that the Convergence Bill – soon to be debated by Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Communications – in its current form could pave the way for potential “legal wrangling” by dominant market players in the future.

i think "legal wrangling" is a given with or without the convergence bill...the overlap between the competition commission and icasa has alreayd been exploited by telkom

I wonder what the competition board do with the money they get from fines?
And it's such a laugh seeing them (Competition board) actually speak up, after years and years of complacency, their position is being threatened by an incomplete bill, now they speak up - where were they when teklom was sold ?

ICASA's hearings should have been run by the competition board, but - nooooo - methinks more that one "competition board" would do harm to nobody.

Me hates organisations that get coverage like this when they are completely translucent elephants, not even white elephants.
