Hi there
I am wanting to connect my laptop, desktop and Billion ADSL moden (5100sm) to a little switch (8 port)....

How does one connect, either using the laptop or desktop? I am highly confused on how to set it up. The 5100sm is a modem (no router capabilities).

Very, Very

Just plug the SM into your 8-port switch like you do the PC and laptop and create PPPoE accounts on both machines. When you hit dial, it should work.

Hi davep001,

There is nothing you need to do with the Billion 5100SM modem except to plug it into an open port on the switch.

You then continue to configure a dial-up session on your laptop or desktop by running the "Setup New Connection Wizard" as you would do for a normal analogue modem, except that you select "Connect using a Broadband Connection that requires a username and password" at step 3 or 4 of your network setup wizard - this is for WinXP.
Your pc's will automatically detect the 5100SM on the network using PPPoE.

It really is as easy as that.

hope it helps.
