Hi all

I applied for ADSL on 23 June 06, and apparently there has been some port action lately so I hope to be connected soon (maybe even before spring comes). I read in a post that one can setup your modem, filters etc, and then wait to see if/when the ADSL light come on.

I've plugged all the bits into place, but Windows does not notice the new Billion 5102 modem (only the ethernet port it is plugged into). I went through the 'Install new hardware' wizard several times, no luck. Will it be recognised once there is a ADSL connection, or should I get worried?

You don't install a separate driver in windows for it. The manual tells how your network should be set up for you to be able to access the modem...

I have the same ADSL modem. To access the settings, enter the IP address 192.168.1.254 into your web browser and log in with the details as specified in the manual. I cannot remember if this was the case with this particular modem, but usually the default login and password are both "admin".

Remember to change this password immediately as you will make it child's play for anyone to get to your router's setup and steal your account details once your line has been activated if it remains like this.

By default that modem comes with an IP of 10.0.0.2 unless its firmware has been updated. Go into the command prompt window and type IPconfig. That should give u the default gateway which you would use in the manner Khyron pointed out. Default username is 'admin' and password is 'admin'. run the quick setup once onboard to quickly set up that router to connect..

Hi again guys. Hope you all doing fine.

The Billion 5102 will only ask you for a username and password once the ADSL is installed. If you really need to check if it is working, connect the PC to the router and you will see one of the LAN lights will light up. This means there is connectivity between the router and the PC. Go to Internet Connections, check that the PC is getting a IP address automatically from the router (must be set to DHCP). Next go to the command prompt and enter ipconfig this will give you the IP address, Subnet mask and default gateway that the PC is getting from the router. Next, open Internet Explorer and type //192.168.1.254 in the address bar and this will bring up the popup window for the router's config page, enter username and password and it will automatically take you to the router's config page.

Once you have gotten this far then it will be working when ADSL is installed.
If not and there is no LAN light burning on the router, check your lan card, if all else fails mail me at [email protected] with your contact details and we can test it quickly.

Hope this helps. ;)

Default IP for BILLION 5102 is 192.168.1.254 not 10.0.0.2. :)
