Hi There

I have an ADSL line with a billion wireless ADSL routers (7202GR2) and I have a desktop with a network cable and I have a notebook (Sahara) with build-in wireless connectivity(atheros). The desktop id working fine but I can't get the notebook to access the modem. I tried all configurations but i can't see the network from the notebook.

What do you think i am doing wrong?

The desktop id working fine but I can't get the notebook to access the modem. I tried all configurations but i can't see the network from the notebook.

What do you think i am doing wrong?

Do the following steps:

1. Internet Connections --> Wireless Connection --> TCP/IP--> and then check that it gets an IP from the router.
2. Start--> Run--> cmd--> ipconfig--> check that the default gateway is 192.168.1.254 (If you have not changed it) and then see if you can ping the router--> c:\ping 192.168.1.254
3. Check that the windows firewall is off for this test.
4. Open wireless connections and see if you can pick up the SSID from the router, (should be wlan-ap).
5. See if you can connect to the router.(I take it that you have not enabled wireless security)?
6. You should be able to see the network and connect to it.

If not do the following steps:

Go into the router's config page --> configuration --> lan --> wireless --> and please check that there is a mac address in the router. If it only gives you zero's then drop me a mail.

And if the above mentioned steps failed then drop me a mail at [email protected] and we can take it from there.

Hope it helps...

Hi squirrel

The 7202GR2 has been replaced by the 7300G. And please do not stress we will still support you. LOL It is just that the 7300G conforms to the new eco friendly standards set by Europe's laws.

Forgot bout that... CAFFEINE OVERDOSE.... LOL

Is jou Wlan light on on router ?

is drivers instaled?

Log in to router and find WLAN section take note of settings if u want to change them (If u change it your system will be more secure think neigbour lending your adsl and burning those gigs)
SSID (never use personal info)
Type of security i recoment WPA PSK (Pre shared key)
Any more setting on this screen
IF u set it to WPA-PSK change key(password) make it long

if all of above is right Open network conections and right click on wireless network conection and select view wireless networks your router should be listed there

It wil mayby tel u than an third party software took control of Wireles lan network card if so look for it in systray use it to configure Wlan

use the obove setings u looked up on router to set up conection

hope this help else yust ask again ant say where u stuck and we can go from there

As to do with the topic, download NetStumbler and see if you can actually see your router to start with!

Hi There

1) this step is ok
2) If I run ipconfig itt says for the wireless connection "Media disconnected". It times out if I try tp ping the ip address (192.168.1.254)
3) Windows firewall and Zone Alarm is Off
4) Unable to pick up ssid.
5) Unable to connect to router. I have not enabled wireless security.

If I go to config as you explained i do see a Mac address.
