Billion PPPoE timeout issues?

Telkom said line is fine.... Think its time to buy a different router, seriously.
Have you tried using RASPPOE? As mentioned above, there are known issues with using Windows to create a PPPoE connection (especially in XP). http://www.google.co.za/search?num=...rror+678+xp&meta=&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

Alternately you could try resetting your TCP/IP stack to the installation defaults. You can do this by running "netsh interface ip reset log.txt" from the command prompt (without the quotes). Also reset Winsock by typing "netsh winsock reset". Restart your computer when you're done running both.

The problem off course is that your TCP/IP stack might become corrupt again.

Problem is, the Router is using PPPoE LLC > Authing from the Router itself, safe to assume that windows will not establish PPPoE either.

Billion Routers had this issue in the PE disctrict last year beginning if I remember correctly, something about ubdated Dslam/Core Layer stuff and Billion Routers not able to communicate // correction I believe there was actual Auth system issues in that area //. Again this is district related it seems.

Anyone in JHB/Bryanston area experiencing this issue?

Excuse my ignorance but why is the Billion at fault here, mine is working just fine?

Can't hurt to try another modem. I've owned three Billions in the last couple of years, and two of the three eventually just stopped working in certain areas. Both times a call to Billion support revealed that there were known problems with the model in question.

Just because your Billion is still fine doesn't mean that his isn't at fault here.

If you read the posts it appears that more than one billion router had this problem. I'm curious as to why the fault is specifically billion and not a faulty router or line fault!

As far as i know Telkom is having a problem with the lines. In our area we can not get a PPP connection. There is nothing wrong with the billion but there is a problem at telkom if you are using telkom's ADSL.My billion router works like a charm,i have been using it for the past year and a half and it never...i mean never gave me any problems.:D

Guys im still down, anyone else still hanging? Phone Mweb yesterday, SEACOM repair was cancelled on Sunday. Dont believe this is SEACOM related though.

hey man did you get sorted out ? i phoned telkom on 0800 375 375 (i think :D ) and the tech guy sorted me out, my settings on the router changed somehow (dont ask me how ! i have no idea myself)
anyway he asked me what the settings currently were and changed them so that they worked again .. worked for me. my router is the bipac 5200s rc
