Binance now live in SA

More than enough other options whilst we wait for them to get back up and running again
Any international exchanges accepting rand as a purchase currency and local deposits?

not that surprising, been in the payments domain on-and-off myself for over a decade now and I can tell you without a doubt it is literally impossible to have robust, reliable partners in place at the pace Binance has launched local currency pairs

doesn't matter how much money & resources you throw at the problem, these things require solid partners, building relationships with solid partners takes time, there is no substitute for it

I'm sure they'll get it right eventually, but if that is the only exchange you rely on for getting ZAR into/out of the crypto world you need a backup plan for the next couple of months to a year at least

Been using altcoin, opened an account there few years ago, they are pricey though. Open to recommendations.

Ahh I hate altcoin their volumes are horrific. Two best local ones are valr and luno. I pref valr due to lower fees

^ this

although I prefer Luno for their longer track record and general reliability, not to mention highest consistent trade volume on ZARBTC and more international presence opening up arbitrage opportunities, maker fees being zero works just fine for me

different strokes for different folks

What is the best alternative to binance ? I want 2 platforms one for long term investing and one for day trading (main reason is simplifying tax)

I still use binance couldn't care less that zar isn't an option. They still have some of the most awesome crypto projects etc available.

Our exchanges aren't really what you would typically use for trading as volumes are low.

Valr luno bybit binance all good options

With binance one could use a cc card (for example get spend rewards from the bank). Any other option available in SA that allows the same?

Just bear in mind that binance credit card transactions are foreign transactions even if they appear in zar. They are capped at 50k per transaction and 1m a year. If you cap this you will not even be able to pay a 50 rand Spotify sub

Is the best way to send from Binance to Luno also XRP ?

Thanks will check it out with bigger transfers.. As an experiment I checked the cost of sending R 200. With bitcoin it was R 96 and with XRP it was 0.02 c
