Hi,

This search engine is live.

www.bing.com

1st impressions

1. Doesn't have as many results as google.
2. It tries to load all pics and not 10 per page as per your preferences.
3. Search is fast
4. A bit bloated to me with the background pictures.

Will have to try it for a few days.

Reminds me of a Google Clone:mad:

Better than live search, and seems quick too. Will also test drive for a while.

One has to remember that although Google might produce a nanazillion results in .00000008 of a second, try scrolling to the last page of those results and see how relevant they are.:)

Not bad, not as many results, but actually more usefull results. Example is whenever i search for a product "in south africa only" on google, i get a zillion gumtree / bidorbuy results, forcing me to filter my query.

I also think not all the companies are listed [i.e. bidorbuy] on the search engine.

I kinda like the little preview screen you get [to the right of the result is little orange circle thingy with the line through..hover over it to see a text preview].

EDIT: After some more experimentation, bing is FAST! Much faster than Google...on my connection anyway...with the background pic and all..

Update

Bing is fast and it shows more relevant results.

The news section does not work, maybe because it's still beta.

I've actually changed my home page from google to bing. Am impressed so far. Whoever would have thought...

edit: news is working for me...?

Edit.

Yes, sorry news works, if you do a search in news. Not like Google who has headlines when you click on News without a search.

When searching images in bing, if you click on a thumbnail link to open it in the same tab, you go to the link, but you also get the original image search results scrolling down the left hand side of the new page. Way cool. In a google image search, you end up middle clicking on the images to get them all to open in new individual tabs. This way is quite innovative I think. One thing MS seem not to have copied from someone else?

LOL!

Search for "bing sucks" in bing. With the default "moderate safe search" on, there's not a single non-pron link on the 1st page. Something needs tweaking there methinks.
