Hi guys,

Sorry for he noob question, but how would i go to update my BIOS, my mobo is Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L with BIOS version F4.

Thanks

You go to the manufacturers website, find your exact model motherboard and follow their instructions exactly on how to do it.

Download the bios file, extract to usb, plug usb directly to the mobo via a port at the back of your pc, put computer on, continuously press end till the qflash utility gets launched then choose to update via flash drive, browse for the file and flash the bios

or just read the mobo manual ffs (lol ;))

BIOS rule #1 - if it's working leave it alone.

BIOS Update:.......................................................Successful:)

since i upgraded the cpu from P4 to Q9550, the multiplier didn't show maximum value, therefore giving me less OC capability.

neva had probs with mine, but i got a q6600. but then again i am also running F9 already... But I did OC before all my previous updates.

BIOS updates were deadly LONG ago, using the 'manu' tool (most have it, like Gigabyte have the @BIOS tool) is fairly safe these days.

These days, they are more like 'feature' upgrades (newer CPU's can be used on the board)

But if you're not sure, becareful.

i've done a number of BIOS upgrades and unless you choose the wrong one or power is disrupted during, there is hardly reason to be afraid of them. but it is probably best to read through the changelist/readme

Gigabyte has the Q-Flash program which really makes it easy, in about 4min i was done upgrading.
