BIS completely dead - anyone else?

OK A Quick fix for those on the Vodacom Networks with Blackberry's
To be able to use the Standard Data Service that other mobile phone users are using is rather simple. You will be Charged Airtime.

Go to the Setting then choose Advance. from there u go to TCP/IP and,

Change ur APN from BLACKBERRY.NET to internet.
Change ur Default broswer Configuration from : Internet Broswer to Vodafone Live!
REboot phone by doing a battery Pull.

once phone has restarted you will be able to use normal Data as in Surf the web, BBM APPS WILL NOT WORK. some APPS still do work on this setting.. but i just use M.facebook.com and m.twitter.com and M.gmail.com for email and stuff.. Mxit does work as long as you have downloaded the new 6.1.0 Mxit For BlackBerry from m.mxit.com, at the sign in screen make sure u select APN before logging in.

Don't forget, data used here will be charged for!
 
LandyMan i can surf still just no emails or BBM, so i dont know if changing the APN to normal vodacom will allow for twitter and facebook, emails i dont think as that is linked to BB push services, but as i say iv got standard internet, maybe changing the apn will allow for whats'app too, unsure and untested just a thought
 
I can browse too, but it's using my airtime, even though I have NO APN setup! If you're on contract, and you're not willing to pay extra for browsing, I suggest NOT using your browser until BIS is back up and running.

You do NOT wanna get hit over the head with a huge bill, even though you weren't made aware of the fact that you'll be charged, without your APN set.

Not much news might be the downfall of RIM!
 
This is complete and utter bull. Have to use my HTC for the internet. My BB has become an expensive paperweight. Who's gonna pay my huge data bill?

Been using Wifi on my BB, really irritated right now! The first day I could handle just fine, but another day (going on 3 days) is just a huge stuff up!
 
Not much working on BIS other than browsing, emails coming in 10-12 hours late and many emails missing completely, BBM also not working. Total cock up.
 
My BIS is still completely dead, browsing works but I assume that's through regular GPRS.
