My wife's access to the normal data network has been disabled on MTN's side. The phone will simply not connect to anything that isn't delivered via BIS.

From what I can tell most of the posts on this thread are from a Vodacom perspective. Based on your comments it seems as though MTN's BIS still works as advertised.
