BitCo Consumer Review

im going to look for the post.

but in the mean time

can you honestly say you are happy with being FUP-ed more now on the new policy ?

A download of 50GB for an xbox game is not a problem. If you had to download via torrents during the day while you are at work this would be considered abuse.

Hi ReDeeMer,

Our Broadband products are not capped so you will not ever reach a physical limit.

All services are open during the day except Torrents are slowed down to allow prioritized services from 6am - 6pm thereafter torrents are open

The connection should be perfect for all other services during the day and should not affect your Online Gaming, Media Streaming or general web usage

Large unsolicited downloads after hours will still be subject to the FUP so Torrents will be limited to 50% of your line speed if done at full speed for a prolonged period of time.

We have completed the new FUP and will shortly be rolling this out to all users on our network, i will post some detail later today on exactly how this will work.

Honestly: I have not done any big downloads during the day. If I have something I need to download I let it run at night when I go to bed. 90% of the usage is for streaming so I have not really encountered any throttled downloads. Only happened when I re-installed RUST and 3 other games from steam. Throttled after 1 hour and then back up after an hour and so on. When I updated WoW to Patch 6.0.2 it also happened as I did it on a Saturday.

This has been the only time I have been affected New or old FUP.

i mean 1hr at 1.1mb and anything thereafter 600kb

you get better speeds on a 10mb telkom line uncapped unshaped.

when it now comes to the holidays and you want to play and download we are going to suffer.
during the day im also not home, but im paying for a 10mb line
and i only ever see the ass end of that 10mb

the problem is when i want to use the system at its full potential i can only do that for 1hr and then i'm punished.
whats the damn point ?

Did Bitco even listen to our issues with the current FUP? YAY for Streaming but screw you with everything else

this is utter crap.
(not shouting and you Pitbull just not very happy with my current purchase)

No listen I agree with what you are saying and I hear you. I will never ever support Torrenting as it destroys the experience for good practice users. However I do believe personally that Game downloads from places like steam and EA should not be throttled. That is however a slight annoyance I can live with as I don't really do that much downloads. Buffering streaming though will send me up the walls.

It's all about your personal usage and preferences I suppose.

I don't think the new FUP has been implemented yet. I'm still on trial, and can manage 5 hours of full speed downloads, which I can barely do, unless torrenting.

The new FUP is quite perfect, my normal downloads and streaming throughout the day are never affected, although torrents must be shaped, and it's understandable.

I'm sure you'll love it, just wait for the 10Gbps Core upgrade during this week, and If I'm not mistaken the FUP should be live next week?

and i think this is all i ASK really.

block torrenting ban it to the wee hours of the morning. but don't get between me and my Saints row 4 or far cry 4 download :)

Huh?

We just said we have no problem with streaming? Am I missing something?

Hey Pitbull

Streaming is much better but "Uninterrupted HD Streaming" is just that if you know what i mean, there should be no breaks in watching HD content if we look at it supposedly being "Uninterrupted HD"

Not 2 movies and then throttled, if i wanted to watch a full day of movies or series in HD i should be able to according to the package but sadly i cannot

I agree with the need for a FUP to prevent extensive downloads etc and have no issue with that but the FUP is being used as an excuse to not be able to stream Uninterrupted HD content

Yet this is very clearly advertised as a perk to the package, in saying this Bitco basically is contradicting itself with offering one thing and preventing you from achieving it with another thing

Come December and we all at home and want to spend a few days watching movies and series, i'm sure we going to have massive issues streaming HD

Hi Pitbull,

Some of us are still experiencing problems with the Streaming, I even have a call logged last night for my line syncing at 3.95mbps while streaming and I was not even throttled, but the video (720p) would still buffer, so for some of us, streaming still seem to be an issue.

You on the FUP trial?

I'm on the FUP trial, might be the reason I'm not experiencing any of these issues currently. Perhaps we should wait to see what the final feedback is on the FUP trial and the way forward. As I said in a previous post, my kids watch Netflix from when we get home around 17:00 till about 21:00 at night. During that time, my wife also watches on the Ipad. I either game or also watch Netflix so at times between 17:00 till around 23:00 24:00 we have at least 2 users on at all times and no break in quality.

The last holidays I also had no issues with streaming even though my kids were at home all day watching Netflix. I could forget about getting anything past 2Mbps download wise but streaming went flawlessly.

I have never tried to watch Netflix 24 hours a day so I can't confirm that, but I would say at times (during the holidays) it was close to around 16 hours a day none stop.

What are you trying to stream? Do you get the same issue on Youtube etc?

Your issue does sound like something else though? Which streaming provider? One of those prioritized by Bitco?

On this Garth, since you're here. I found a place called Vudu yesterday. They seem to have quiet a good variety and thinking of signing up with them too. Are they also provisioned as with Netflix and Hulu or not/not as yet?

Hey Pitbull

I am currently on the net FUP trial, this past month or so has been pretty busy at work so i only use my link in the evenings from about 6:30/7 till about 11 or so. On the weekends i am either at work or away from home

Come December when a lot of people are at home with the kids etc and i myself will be home for a week or 2 in December then i'm sure we will have issues

Even tho the time period for the FUP to kick in has increased it is still based on usage over time so if for arguments sake you watch and entire season of a series which i' sure is very possible with us :-). You will be throttled and then you can only so SD

Do you stream SD or HD ?

Wow 16 hours, this was before the trial FUP so i'm assuming thats only possible at SD quality and you would have been throttled the entire time i'm sure :-(. i could not get past 1 movie without being throttled initially and then back to SD

I have a projector setup at home so HD is a must else you might as well be watching VHS quality stuff :-(

They promoted "Uninterrupted HD Streaming" yet you physically cannot achieve an Uninterrupted HD stream. which is my problem
