Bitcoin bank Flexcoin shuts down after theft

Flexcoin said on February 25 it was not affected by Mt. Gox’s closure. “While the Mt. Gox closure is unfortunate, we at Flexcoin have not lost anything,” it had tweeted.

Famous last words... must regret that comment now!

That's the problem with virtual currency - how do you protect bitcoins from theft, especially from a determined hacker?

You keep it in an encrypted wallet, stored on a computer not linked to any intranet/internet. Make sure you backup your wallet as well.

Yet the climb of BTC price continues unabated. $649 as of right now.

Which makes it an even worse "currency" than the Zimbabwean dollar. Not even remotely stable, and backed by no government

This is how it all begins, BTC is in its early stages and all this is part of the bugs being ironed out. :D This is what i feel and it can only improve as time goes.

That reminds me, i got to read up on how this thing works :) :O.

nothing wrong with BTC itself it the place of storage aka the bank got robbed. so how is hacking them any different than robbing the bank? at least the bank remembers to lock all their doors

Your deposits in a Bank are protected by government regulation. All the banks money can get stolen, but you will get it back
