Bitcoin mining (turn your GPU into a slave)

Who are you mining with? I'm with BTCMine. In the username field must come yourusername@yourminername - in the password, the password for your miner.

This a foreseeable consequence of having your wallet stored on your computer.. If it's compromised, there goes all your coins!

Amazing ! See all the bitcoin transaction world wide in real time.

Use the scroll bar at the bottom to adjust the time window.
Hover mouse on dot to see transaction details.

Lots of transactions in the $900 000 range every half hour or so
and lots of exhanges for dollar currency in the $20 000 range every few minutes.

Thats very intriguing, that kind of value transactions is very suspect if you ask me.

Why suspect ?

Lets say someone buys a yacht/porche/house from someone else and pays in dollars/euros/rands
for 900 000 USD.

Is that suspect ?

I actually saw an ad on a bitcoin forum where a guy puts his Porche up for sale for BitCoins.

I reckon the BitCoin idea rocks. Lets USE it.

The transactions are very regular, and of very high value.... it looks suspect to me...

There seems to be a pattern to the highvalue transactions as well, starting at roughly 6500BTC and ramping up tp 48000BTC in a short space of time.... quiet for a while, then pattern repeats.

Oh hi there Synaesthesia :D

I've just built a second rig to "mine"

My main rig has 2 x 5870's, my second has 2x 5850's. Hopefully this all works out and I can build a mining farm.

It now has a problem communicating

I am using guiminer v2011-05-21

No it should be killadoob@yourminername, then click on the dropdown box next to Server and select "other" - put in the address and port which bitcon give you.

Ok i got in with bitcoinpool.

How do i track my mining? The other site had stats but cannot find the same thing on this new site.

You need to register your miners. So your login name will be <yourloginname>.<yourminer>

I just use my name and like, gfx1 to gfx 4.

So as an example. Kuga.gfx1 would be your login name.

I so feel for you guys blowing cash on "miners" when more people start doing it and it becomes increasingly hard...

then you gotta worry about power costs too

I get 150 Mhas/s and don't pay for power at all.... even then its not worth the strain on your gfx card(s)

Like I said I'm doing this for 2 weeks to see what I get then decide.. No way am I building a dedicated mining machine just yet.. Only got 1BTC so far!

In just 9 days the difficulty level increases to 12mill. It will make it 10times as hard to get 1BTC. Not worth the risk righy now to build a mining rig.... UNLESS... its superb, and does at least 1Ghash/s... goodluck getting there

Time to invest in AMD stock? Might be a quicker way to realise gains while everyone is buying new AMD graphics kit to run miners :D

I'm doing about 1.2Ghash/s with my 2 rigs at the moment.

very true.

the one reason i would doubt high value transactions is this
Andresen says that there's currently no good infrastructure for tracking down stolen Bitcoins. And, he said, there may never be a good mechanism for reversing unauthorized transactions because Bitcoin transactions are designed to be irreversible.
