Where do you store your cryptocurrency? Do you hold your own private key?

trezor hardware wallets, ledger hardware wallets, some on a VM.

As I understand it, my cryptocurrencies are all stored in the various blockchains, with the exception of IOTA which is stored in some sort of tangle or knot.

My private keys are mine, for the currencies that matter. Those I have for short term are usually in exchanges, unless they're ERC20 tokens in which case I have my private keys with which I access them via MyEtherWallet or whatever is convenient. For rare exceptions (e.g. where a light wallet isn't available - i.e. I don't want the full blockchain on my hard drive) I have coins with larger totals that are in an exchange. Otherwise Exodus, Jaxx, Coinomi, and some single-coin wallets like Neon and IOTA. Exodus is my main one.

All behind strong passwords stored in KeePass in a virtual drive encrypted with TrueCrypt. So, yes, some vulnerabilities, and a linux virus/malware could rob me of my invisible internet beans, but I haven't invested more than I can chew.

For day trading a few thousand dollars on exchanges.
For drawing cash / liquidity - wirex - Bitcoin to usd to Visa card.
For long term storage - offline encrypted drive with Elektrum wallet, only mounted when I need it...

Why do you have to be a owner? You can have an empty wallet...
Eish.
"Car owners - where do you park your car?". The answer to that isn't: "You don't need a car to have a undercover parking bay". That doesn't even follow from anything.

Store mine on Jaxx for now and an exchange or two.

Depending on the market Luno wallet, but if if other crypto currencies look more appealing,Eobot

Private key - Bitcoin-qt wallet

Backup of private key - USB flash drive that has not been connected to the internet, stored in a safe. Check if its working every 6 months and replace flash drive every 2 years.
