Bitcoin Thread 2 Satoshi

definitely

I just wonder if the media outlets literally have a hat with random explanations they pull a card from when there's big movements though

their explanations are almost always laughably absurd

Well pre market tech stocks took a massive dump. In summary China claimed they built a way better AI version than Chat GPT for a fraction of the cost hence the expesnive chips Nvidia is making is not really required (so the ensire AI market is way overvalued).

Now there is numerous claims China is lying about the actual cost of Deepseek the market just overreacted.

This!

I was reading the first bolded part and thought to myself "yeah, that, or they're lying".

Help needed please.

My 13yo is a saver and wants to get into bitcoin for when she is much older. We signed up successfully with Luno but when it came to her verifying herself, it stopped her saying she has to be 18.

What are her options for investing? Let her mom register on Luno and let my daughter use that account? Or buy BTC through her mom's account and Tx to cold storage - this one is not preferred because it will be more exciting for my daughter to see live changes to her BTC wallet when keeping Sats stored on the Luno exchange/wallet.

Advice?

Get them a wallet on their phone. Phantom or Exodus.

Buy Solana on Mom or Dads profile and send it to their wallet address.

Buy BTC there. They own the wallet and would need to backup the keys. They can also view it and see changes on their end.

Not ideal but yeah.

For my kid; I just created a sub-account on VALR for their crypto. They’re still small and phoneless so was less effort.

Everyone is distancing themselves from the LIBRA sniping. This is going to be one of the greatest spectacles in the history of crypto.

why not just open an easy equities account and you can invest in a Bitcoin ETF or you can invest in Microstrategy?

Today, Quai becomes tradeable. This has now long been building up, but it is another crypto who set themselves up as the disrupter in the space.

Ethereum is being hit. Solana is experiencing the meme burden. Cardano is still Cardano. Fantom, sorry, I meant Sonic is nowhere. Kadena was meant to 'solve' the 'trilemma'. Kaspa. Nexa, lol, Nexa. So, I can go on, now we have Quai.

Fundamentals, utility, does the market movers still care? No adoption, and I mean real adoption, and not by holding some, means that it is not going anywhere.

Lol, I see many are disappointed in Quai. Miners are withdrawing, users are dumping, those who have KYC'ed are unhappy having had to spend ETH on it.

Always the same.

and BTC takes a dive because some exchange somewhere had shitty security ...

in what universe does the USD value tank when some bank somewhere gets robbed?!?

This hack was done by the same people who hacked Phemex. It is not the same method, but this vulnerability is not limited to Bybit. Many questions are being asked. Interesting bounty times ahead.

Anyhow it was the Lazarus Group that executed the attack, or well that is the connection.

I'm still all in on Luno. Only laziness and self-risk (losing the keys) stopping me from moving it to a software wallet.

Should this ByBit hack be my wake up call?

blind signing of smart contracts highlighted as the root cause, meaning it may not be limited to ByBit, but it sure is limited to smart contracts ... which native BTC forms no part of

ByBit (just like Binance) does tend to play a bit loose and fast with rules & process, you don't bring AI bots and all manner of other bleeding edge products to market as fast as they do without taking shortcuts along the way

Let's see how this goes, Redbull F1 team might need a new sponsor soon

Celsius going tits-up and 30% of my portfolio vanishing into thin air was my wake up call

do you want to learn the lesson the hard way or not is the question?
