Bitstamp crypto exchange will charge users for being inactive

Crypto exchange Bitstamp plans to charge a monthly “inactivity fee” for certain users, as the market downturn weighs on trading volume in the industry.

The charges, at 10 euros ($10.27) per month, will apply to accounts that haven’t traded, deposited, withdrawn or staked assets for a year with a total balance of less than 200 euros, starting Aug. 1, Bitstamp said in a company blog.

I was more certain - within 60 seconds of getting the mail I closed that account ;-)
I wasn't paying attention to the mails, my account's been inactive ever since I changed phones and didn't bother to reset 2FA with them

but yeah, closure in process today, never used it much and certainly won't if they charge monthly fees

Lol. They back-pedalled

A few days ago, you received an email from us regarding changes to our fee structure, specifically the introduction of an inactivity fee for accounts that met certain criteria. Please disregard this email, your account has not been charged and we will not be introducing the inactivity fee.

Too late, I instantly closed my account. Really think companies must stop this "let's see what we can get away with, and otherwise back pedal" approach. I did the same with WhatsApp before they back-pedalled (partially only), and I don't then just go back.
