I was told a while ago that should I not be happy with the salary and turn the position down it would be very career limiting. I think some people jumped through hoops to get me promoted during a strong drive for BEE candidates company wide.

Yeah - thats the plan - finish up IT Diploma, brush up on my databasing.

Similar position I was in (to an extent)

I got promoted to team leader, but nobody was placed in my old position. That meant I had to do my current job and also see that others in the team did theirs.

I started looking for a job that same week and resigned a couple of weeks later. I think I was only in the position for a month.

I then used my increased salary and job title as a bargaining tool.

If you want loyalty, get a dog.
