BitTorrent Auto Stop Utility (BTSTOPPER)

Hi

I wrote this little program that automatically closes BitTornado and BitComet torrents once they're finished to prevent them from seeding. This means you can leave your torrent downloading overnight and not fear that all of your precious Hellkom 3GB will get used up when it seeds and continually uploads.

If anyone finds any bugs with this please let me know.

You can DL it here:

I don't use azureus cos it's too resource hungry.

I didn't know bitcomet had that feature - will check it out thanks. :)

hehe I'm feeling very blonde for misunderstanding what you guys were on about. I thought Vio meant 'score 1 for azureus' meaning it already had a feature like that. Ditto Alkine.

Ah well, I'll look into it. I might write an auto finish that supports all the top torrent clients. I just need to know what they are... :D

Post your requests here then... ;)

Kinda defeats the point of BT doesn't it. I mean if there are no seeds whats the point.

Then again some people are also just greedy, not saying anyone here, just a random unrelated thought :/

I think it's a great idea.

While your downloading, your also uploading and we all know the lower you set your upload, the less your download.

There's no way us poor oaks in South Africa can support seeding torrents with a puny 3gig of data a month - it's just not a viable option for us.

What we can do is to give back what we download, which bittorrent does for us automagically, so everyone is happy !

sounds like an excuse not to. lets be realistic here if you wanted to you could. but you don't so um...bleh...damn trying to find a good comeback after beer is damn hard you know....if i remember i'll post something a lot more intellegent tomorrow...when the world spins less

Please note that I've updated it to work with BitComet as well now (quite an interesting programming challenge I might add). If there's enough demand for it to support other torrent clients I'll consider updating it. :)

This proggy suffered from the same windows shutdown issue that sasa had so I've fixed it as well (Windows might not shut down correctly while BTStopper was running).

So if anyone here's using it try v0.04a which solves this little problem. :D

IIRC TorrentStorm had an option where it would seed for 30mins after dl finished then disconnect. Worked lekker. Not sure if TorrentStorm is still maintained though.
