So last night after watching a video about how voice assistants avoid answering questions about religion I did a test myself and to my shock Google assistant answered me back in an Indian accent " Religion is complicated and I am still learning"

I got rid of Google Assistant, but I can't figure out how to do the same with Google Play. It takes roughly 10MB per day, while Google Background Transfer is disabled - not really. My WiFi router is also on cellular connection, hence my concern.

Oreo 8.0 on Huawei.

Mine's doing the same - just no indian accent - so disappointing

Best try out No Root Firewall on the play store. This gives you the ability to allow certain apps and services and block others. Just have to be careful, it might cause you to lose connection with your Google Backup and Device Locator/Anti-Theft services. So you have to know which ones to allow and ones to block
That would be fantastic, thanks very much. Now I can start using the phone.

I don't need Google backup, but Device locator -- isn't the same as Find my Phone option on the menu EMUI 8.0? I disabled this option on the beginning and then noticed that with system security update or after a forced upgrade of Google Play Services, many options came back to default, including this one. It is like a Google is more interested in a stolen phone than a rightful owner. .LOL.
